Hello everyone..

I was at the local pawn shop yesterday and took a look at a M1917 that was in the case.

The revolver has smooth grips and a lanyard ring, but looks like it was refinished in blue as the engraving is worn in certain areas...

The gent was asking $500... I am thinking for a refinish that this is probably high.. What do you all think?

They are no moon clips with the gun nor does it have a box...

In my area almost any shootable, mechanically sound, solid N frame Smith & Wesson will quickly sell for $500.

Ooopss I'm sorry.. that was $800.00 The 1905 HE he has was $500

I don't think you'll get for much less. I wouldn't pay as much attention to the finish of the revolver, assuming there's no rust, etc., as I would the mechanics. Being that it's been refinished, it will always be a "shooter".

It also depends on your wants. If you're looking for a collector piece, pass. If you want a shooter, see my first paragraph.

Edit: After your second post, the $800 is a bit high. At $500 it would have been a good buy; at $800 not so much.
