A friend has a 4" M24-3 round butt that he would like any information that you can give him on it.
ALA serial number indicates a November, 1985 date of manufacture.
Thanks in advance for any info you may offer.
Cheers
James

I bought the first 4" blue M24-3 to arrive in the Birmingham, Alabama area. I promptly round butted it and carried it was a duty arm. A number of years later, a now ex-wife decided we "needed" money in the back, so it and some other nice firearms were sold. It wasn't long the "money in the bank" went to buy furniture that she wanted. :(

No doubt a customized Model 24. Not much to say about it except that it is “almost certainly” not a factory original. Maybe something bad happened to the 3-inch barrel and without a direct replacement for the repair the factory installed a 4-incher. Who knows?

I have owned every barrel length of 24-3. The 4" were square but. So this is either barrel replacement on 3" or round butting of 4". Interesting but I agree with SGT ROCK 11B it would have to be a great deal. Shame really as only 2500 original 4" were made. I still have mine NIB, as i shoot my 624 4".

All we can do is guess without more info from you that’s on the gun. Can we get a close up clear photo of the left side of the grip frame with the grip removed and a photo of the back strap? Is there a serial number in the extractor rod housing underneath the barrel. If so does it match the number on the butt of the grip frame?
