Just received my 1960 M27 and it came with these target grips. Beside the poor stains job someone did, they are stamped "Made in Italy" and R on both sides indicating right hand grip. Can anyone help identify these, the maker, the type of wood and possible value. I know the colors are off but don't see any major dings. Many thanks.

Can't help you definitely on the maker (Sile?) or wood type, but these are fairly common and not particularly valuable.

Sile did not make the grips. Sile was an importer of mainly Italian made gun stuff. They were the Benelli importer years ago.

These grips on my Mod.58 are also from Sile and are very nice walnut and fit perfectly.

Yes, most of the Sile grips are rather plain lightweight wood but I've seen a few sets that stood out, nice Walnuts, burls, etc.

Those look good on yours, mkk41.

Usually heard it described as "European Walnut" , whatever that is.

Sile may have made grips and made them in the USA. I bought some Sile grips and when I got them, I did some searching on the net. Sile was described as an importer but was also described as manufacturers of stocks and grips. They closed their bussinesses in the USA in 1997 IIRC. Owners are DeRobert's in Italy. There was a Sile site in CT at 998 North Colony Road, Meriden. It's currently the site of an outfit named "USA Wood". Draw your own conclusions.

I'm thinking there have been several incarnations of the Sile company or owners of the Sile name. They were an importer & distributor of Italian gunstuff located in New Jersey back in the late 70s-early 80s. Most of the stuff I've seen in Sile packaging is marked Made in Italy.
