M39,new to me.

Thanks to my son and christmas I came into ownership of a M39-2.
It came with the box and papers but has been used. Serial #A4179xx.




would like to know when it was made and nominal value. I do not intend to sell it.

Could be late 77 or early to mid 78. Is it blue or nickel? Depending on overall condition I've seen them between $450 and $800 with the complete package.

Coldmold..... just to be clear .... there are no 'new" 39s. Smith stopped making them in about 1980(?).....

Price hard to tell w/o pictures.... WAG; if it's in good shape, +or- $500..... but as a gift from your son........................ "Priceless"

As a reference point, Model 39 s/n A422344 shipped in November 1977 . . . yours could have been earlier or later but you would need a factory letter to get an exact date.
