Just picked this up today . Anyways , got to looking at the box , and looking at the label . The product code is : 149070
The problem ? According to the bible that code does not exist . There's only 3 of them , and this isn't one of them . Anybody have any ideas ?

A search doesn't find that number. If the SN# on the box matches the gun then I'd call S&W & ask them to get more details.

1999 production date, so it's an early production gun. TDN serial number prefix has been seen on 1999 guns, according to the SCSW.

It's an odd one, that's for sure.

Maybe a sample that was returned to the factory and then resold?

I don't know if it's worth a letter, but it's worth a call to CS. They can at least confirm the production year and month. Might even get a bit more, depending on who answers the phone.

Finally got around to calling CS . They said that this was one of a kind , they only shipped one with this product code . The gentleman that I talked had to log in on an older computer that they used at the time this was made . He said it was shipped to a police department , but how it got to a civilians hand is unknown . I think I might have hit the jackpot . Definitely see getting a letter for this one . A big thanks to Summit , who also supplied me with the m4006 and m4013tsw .
