M41 extractor

I have a m41 made about late 70's not sure shot it a lot never had any trouble with extracting until till it broke, I replaced the
extractor with a new one from brownells now I can't get through a 900 match without a alibi have tryed the oil on top of first round in mag but it did not fix never had to use oil before. I have been using CCI SV.
are there any specks that need to checked to make sure it is fitted right (it was to wide for slot in slide so I honed it down and gave it about .003 clear, and had to hone off length so gun would close) when it fails the empty gets cought on top of next round and is turned side ways or 90 degree to bore.
need help on how to till if fit is correct.

You may want to try the extractor adjustment described in attached.

Yes I have tested it and it holds loaded round good has good tension, I did notice that the gap between extractor and face of bolt looks be move than needed it measured .015 don't know what it should be not sure extractor is made right (being it was way to wide to begin with). also the bolt does not fit tight in slide has about .010 ant back and .005 near extractor seams like a lot to me but this is only one I have ever taken apart.

First review your spelling and sentence structure. Message is unclear. Suggest a couple of pictures of slide/bolt fit and extractor fit.. Bolt should fit square and tight with slide.

Yes I have tested it per model 41 maintenance link and it holds loaded round good has good tension, I did notice that the gap between extractor and face of bolt looks to be more than needed it measured .015 don't know what it should be, this causes extractor to hit .015 above case rim. Not sure extractor is made right (being it was way to wide to begin with). also the bolt does not fit tight in slide has about .010 gap at back and .005 gap near extractor seams like a lot to me but this is only one I have ever taken apart.

I am not to good with computers or cameras or words.

can I buy a new slide assembly that might be made better?

See if you can borrow another slide - the bolt to slide fit sounds as if that could be the problem. If you can not find one, I could lend one for testing. Is the bolt imprinting on the bbl fairly heavily? Again - bolt to slide fit should be tight and even. Extractor lip should sit just in front of bolt.

Tom if you have one that works good could measure gap between extractor and face of bolt?

I think that I can make a shim to tighten up fit of bolt to slide
and make a new extractor that is closer to bolt face have seen a lot information on how to bend extractor in vise but know one tell how close it should be.

Another thing I don't understand is the cut out in face of bolt looks like it is to high (towards top of barrel) when I place a case on face of bolt then slide it in chamber it shoves case down about .050 and then the extractor is not hitting in center of case any more.

Looking at the extractor fit to bolt - the extractor either touches or barely off the side of the bolt depending on the slide I look at. The bolt is square and level to the slide body at all points looking from top and front. I can not measure as precise as you but .050 is a little smaller than 1/16" (.0625) which is a fair amount. When the slide (Without recoil spring) is moved into the closed position, how does the extractor fit the slot in the bbl - high - low - about center? How does the slide gap to barrel extention look? (possibly rubbing?)

The problem is that all was apparently well before the extractor was replaced. Now it sounds as if things are not lining up correctly. (Assume you are using the same ammo thru this problem)

Maybe some other guys will chime in with better ideas.

hi Tom, the extractor is a little off center slot on bbl on high side.
have been using CCI SV and Federal 714 for the past three years with out any problem.
