Mag drop issue

So I was just at the range. After about 70 rounds after I fire the last round in the magazine the slide locks back as normal. With the slide locked back the magazines do not drop freely.

Is this just from being dirty? (I was shooting Winchester white box 9mm). I experienced this once at my last range session but not at first after cleaning. Or should I be calling smith and Wesson?

After cleaning the gun the issue remains. It appears that the slide release is catching on the empty magazine. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sorry, mine was just the opposite not holding the mag. Pull the catch and inspect the tip for burrs. Some of the metal was weak and they will send you a replacement post haste.

Thanks skeptic. Once I get some time ill examine the catch. But I really do think its an issue with the slide release coming into contact with the plastic feeder of the magazine. Ill send s&w an email tonight and see what they say.

M&P 9mm mag relase drop issue.

I just got back from the range today and had 8 magazine drops when attempting to qualify for CCW (I passed). I have shot approximately 500 rounds through this pistol and this is the first time I have had this problem. I am a lefty. The range coach thought I may have been gripping too tight, I changed my grip, but problem re-occurred. Any up to date tips?

Have your mag release switched to lefty? You'll need to get a hold of s&w and they will send you different followers
