I bought an M&P CORE today which came with two mags - I bought an additional one.

The magazines that came in the box have a split at the top, but the new one (original S&W) does not.

Any input on the difference between them? Is one better than the other?

The picture is a little grainy - sorry about that.

Thanks in advance.

There are at least 3 different followers that I know of, as has been said, the black mark comes off, I think it's some kind of production mark. In your picture the one on the right is a later version because the flat space for the slide lock is bigger. The newest one (if my theory is correct) does not have the "9" molded into the surface.

I don't see a difference.
Look closer. He definitely has two different followers. Bkreutz has pointed it out nicely. Here's what I have:

New on the left and old on the right. Notice the nice sharp corner on the left mag vs the rounded corner on the old. The new design catches the slide stop better. The old design would sometimes miss the slide stop after the last round.

Call S&W and tell them you have the old style follower. They will send you new ones for free.

Folks,

Sorry to re-open this discussion - I have 2 M&P Pro 9mm and 15 magazines .. and have the same issue, compounded by moving the magazine release to the right side (drop mag with index finger). I shot IDPA and hanging are frustrating me. All my magazine followers have the rounded corner and slip past the corner - getting caught.

I noted the pictures included were for the .40, have other had teh same issue with the 9mm's and what was the resolution?

Thanks
