i live in ct we do not have any mag capacity ban just a pinned stock law and a threadded barrel law. when i bought my brand new mp 15-22 it came with a single 10 rd magazine. i thought that was wierd enough, but while looking at other peoples pictures i notice that they all have buttons on the side of the follower to help pull them down during loading. mine does not have that part.
and just to clarify the mag i got looks like a 25 rd mag but supposedly is only a 10 rd.

post some pics if you can, they will help everyone to figure out whats going on.

yes i did, sorry. is it normal that my magazine doesnt have that button? just has a hole in the follower where there should be a button.
ill see if i can get a picture up

I believe it's only the standard-length 10 round pinned magazines that do not have a load-assist button. I know the standard-length 25 round magazines have one, and as dogg1er stated, the short 10 round magazines have them too.
I have no idea why S&W didn't include a load assist on the standard length 10 round pinned magazines, unless it has something to do with them recycling/MacGyvering parts from the 25 round magazines to meet specific state requirements.

Has anyone ADDED a load assist button to the long 10 round magazine with the blue follower? Are the buttons for sale as an aftermarket item? If so where....

What I have done so far, is to get a SS Socket Head Cap Screw (allen head), two SS matching washers and SS nut that fits. Using my belt sander I sanded down the head of the cap screw as it stood too proud of the mag tunnel and was stopping the mag from entering the lower's mag tunnel. So taking a wee bit off at a time and then finishing with an angular bevel that matched the Allen head it fit well into the magazine orifice of the lower. I used some blue locktite on the screw and put the polished side of the washers towards the magazine follower tunnel for reduced drag.

It works fine. I may paint it black to have a correct look as right now it is brite stainless.

Here is a picture...

my long 10 rounders didn't come with a load assist on them. i would imagine it's because they don't have nearly as much tension on the spring as a short 10 or 25 rounder. i can tell you that i did snap a load assist off of a 25 rounder, called S&W, and about 3 months later i was mailed a couple spares. they fit all my mags. i still don't put em in the long 10 rounders because they just aren't necessary.

Yeah the 10/25's don't come with load assist buttons, short10rd mags do as well as the 25's. I don't use the load assist button on my short mag, it' still pretty easy to load.

I use this technique, i've loaded thousands of rounds and never have tired fingers.

You can drill our that pin so you can full capacity in your neutered mags. There are some threads on how to do it somewhere around here.
