I have searched high and low for the 10rd mags for my 40c.

There are none available and the ones that are they want ridicules prices for them. What is up with the shortage?

Also, how good are the ProMag mags?

And finally, mags, leave loaded or empty. I have seen conflicting perspectives on this point with all magazines from my mini14 to handgun mags. Thoughts/experiences?

Thanks, I checked out all three links. The first 2 are for the FS 10rd mags, I have one of those and you have to use the Xgrip Mag spacer with the compact, which I do not want to do.

The last link has the compact 10rd in stock, but $47.00 with shipping is a bit steep for my blood. Just going to wait and see what happens.

Thanks again for the links.

Well, to understanding. The 10 round full size are the same as the compact with the exception of that huge plastic base plate. For the states that are limited, they use the bigger base plate as the extra needed to make up the size difference. Price I can't help haha. Keep your eye on cdnn, I bought some used ones for under $30 a piece.

I just tried to put a compact base plate on a full size 10 round mag body and they are not compatible. The compact base plate slides on over tabs on the outside and the full size 10rd base plate slides over tabs that are on the inside.

You could keep watching 44Mag.com. Their prices fluctuate wildly. 5 months ago they had M&P mags listed for $100/mag. Then it dropped to $30/mag. You just never know with them.

This is correct. The two are completely different animals. Also, the .40c mags are angled at the bottom where the full size are not.

The benefit is that the full size mags can be used with the .40c even without the XGrip. They just look funny.

You learn something new everyday, thanks guys!
