Magic Jack

I use one in Florida (when we run down). It works just fine - absolutely no problems. I just purchased the new one that plug's right into your router (modem). The benefit is I always had to keep my PC running to use it - now with the new one - I can shut off my PC and it will still work. Anyway, it works as advertised.

I have two, one old style that has to be plugged in a computer, & one of the new ones that doesn't need to be plugged in a computer. They both work great! I ported both my phone numbers to Magic-Jack, & I'm saving about $100 per month on phone service. The only hitch is you have to have reliable & fast broadband internet service. A friend tried Magic-Jack, but his cable internet was pretty slow, & it didn't work well at all. You can run a test of your internet speed before you buy & switch over, though. Good luck, whatever you do.

Has worked for me. Have had it for about 3 years now (the one into my computer). We just use it to have a static home phone number so we don't need to give out our cell phone numbers to certain businesses and individuals.

The bandwidth of your connection is important though. You need to have a speedy connection in order to have it work well. It didn't work so well with our slower DSL but on our 40mbps connection it works fine.

Mixed success.........worked in Arizona.....but not in Minnesota (well partially). In the area code where we summer Magic Jack did not come to an agreement on access fees and we could not make local calls; the company service techs could not tell us this as they were told it was a routing problem............I found the answer on the internet as apparently they have had this problem elsewhere. So for me; I can't recommend it. Use the Verizon "my phone" (like a cell phone you plu your landline into) for aprox $20/mo and it works just fine
