Hello, I have a model 15 that the forum here told me was from 1969. The Magna grips it has I can tell are replacements. Only one panel has a number, 8391. This number matches nothing else on the gun, and the fit is also just slightly off on the very bottom of the grip. I was trying to identify if they were real S&W grips or something from Taiwan.

Considering trying to find period correct from Ebay. Altamont makes a service grip but they are currently out of stock.

You need to show us pictures of the stocks if you expect us to say whether they were made by S&W. Until the late 1970s or early 1980s, Magna stocks were hand fitted to each frame, which is why they were numbered to the gun. So a slight misfit of the same vintage stocks on a particular frame might not fit precisely.

Only the right panel was ever numbered.

Secondly, you should tell us the barrel length on your Combat Masterpiece. The stocks for a 2" unit would be different than those for a 4" example.

My Model 15-3 is also a 1969 and I know that the stocks are original to the gun, however not numbered on either panel. They look to be exactly the same as the OP's.

I agree....leave them on it and enjoy.

Your magnas appear to have a rounded bottom edge ( PC grips). Don't Model 15s come from the factory with square bottom magnas like this 15-4 and like those on post #3 ?? Just asking :)

From the photos, it appears the right stock panel is a later type (smaller checkered area) than the left side, which looks original. Does the right side have a silver stock washer?
