A random question (and hopefully not too dumb) comes to mind: would the "PTS" variant of the MBUS sights work for the 15-22? I know they're made and intended "for training and simulation use only." Since the .22LR rounds create such little recoil, and I only use my 15-22 for plinking/simple BRM practice, would they work as well as the "real deal?" Ebay has multiple MBUS PTS sight sets at around $20 instead of the much higher cost alternative. Thanks for your input.

I am struggling with the same dilema. My biggest issue is that they have moving parts and need to be adjusted to zero them. That is my biggest concern. I put a PTS trigger guard on my AR and I feel perfectly fine with that. I would even be fine with a PTS AFG or even and VFG but like I said I would be concerned with the fact that you will be folding and unfolding them and trying to zero them. But, if I get a red dot I would rarely use them so maybe that will push me toward them. Incidentally, the trigger guard seems to be made very nicely and does not feel cheap.

I have them on one of my 15/22's and have an MOE model as well. While the real Magpul MBUS sites are definately higher quality, I am not a bit concerned about using the PTS on the other rifle. They will be just fine and save you a bunch of money to boot.

i have both the afg is fine it will work no problem the sights on the other hand when i put them on i did not tighen them down enough like i should of and was able to get left and right on target but the up and down is on the front post and you need a tiny allen to undo the lock pen to adjust. got back home tighted everything up and they function great. have not gone back to shoot yet. but remember they are back up sites if you not going to run a scope or red dot then stick with factory you know that they will work. just my two cents hope this helps :)

I got "suckered" into buying the "PTS" versions which are really cheap chinese knockoffs (Even the official Magpul PTS website doesn't list them anymore.)

The front sight had a height problem and the sight post had to be screwed up to where it almost fell out.

The back sight springs were crooked and it would not flip up to the same position each time. I bought the real version and there is no comparison in quality.

If you want them just for looks, go for it.

I have used them, while they work they are not as good as the real ones. I do still use a PTS RSA, and a PTS MS2 sling on my 15-22. However I chose a nicer set of alloy " airsoft " sights for my 15-22.

If you look on ebay you can get the real deal for $80-$90. Some people like PTS and some say they are junk.

I have used the PTS version and honestly? I've never used them. Besides flipping them up once or twice when I put them on, having even a semi decent optic means you'll most likely never need to use them.

They work. I've not found fault with mine. They were zeroed ok, they give a lower 1/3 co witness with the Aimpoint in a Larue mount and I've never had to use them in a string of fire. Am contemplating removing them all together.

I bought some PTS sights off Ebay. All the parts on them were so loose that I sent them back and ordered the real thing.

Sounds like a 50/50. That being said, after reading some other threads/posts/reviews, I'm thinking I'll save up some cash and go for the actual ones. My main use for the 15-22 is to practice marksmanship fundamentals at a cheaper rate than .223, so I'm a bit more reliant on "iron" sights. Thanks for the input. :)

I ordered some Magpul PTS today from ebay. 99.95% of the time I will use my red dot or scope. I don't expect to use these flip down sights much at all, but buying these, I can use the red dot without being forced to co-witness with my regular sights. These will be strictly for just in case my battery fails on the red dot, so I am expecting these to work excellent for my situation.

Sights are one thing I am not sure I'd want to cut corners on. Based on a few people saying they had issues, I am glad I bought the real deal MBUS sights.

Besides, they are made in the USA! Feels good to buy something homegrown once in awhile.

I have the PTS gen 2 on mine, and they work fine.. 99% of the time they're down so why spend $70 or more on something you won't use that much? Unless they are going to be the only sights your gonna use I recommend the PTS

Heres one reason to buy the real Magpul sights:.... re-sell value.

If you're only interested in resale, don't buy them in the first place?

I'd say take the difference in $ and buy a better optic, then you're less likely to need them anyway........

Now, the real test is, how do I convince my lady to let me have a little more play money until my next check...one of the great mysteries of life. :) But yeah, they're gonna be the ony aiming system for my 15-22, so I think it's gonna be better to make the investment, particularly since I use it to practice my own fundamentals without burning through .223 and to help some friends practice their shooting fundamentals for military quals.

There is your argument. You either spend the money on the real ones which will eventually cost less because you are shooting .22 instead of 223 which is running close to $1 a round.

I spend the money and buy the real deal for my AR's. They are backup sights and if I would need them,I want the ones that DO work all the time. The Knockoff stuff work fine on airsoft, but I'm NOT shooting airsoft.

If your going to use as your primary sights get the real deal. If they are going to co-witness, put your money into a decent optic and get the PTS, because they will be down most of the time. Wonder how many have true MBUS, but counter with knockoff red dots/reflex sights...

The airsoft guys are usually a lot harder on their guns than typical 15/22 shooters... I have no fear that my PTS will fail and they are a perfect co-witness to my TRS-25 of which the batteries last forever...
