Magpul UBR Stock

I think the difference between this UBR and the CTR is that it comes with a special tube. Would work great on a real M&P 15 but not the .22. I ordered a CTR instead.:D

The UBR is an excellent stock. I run 2 of these on my ARs. Unfortunately, with regard to the 15-22, the UBR requires an propietary MagPul receiver extension tube. Thus, it is incomparable with our 15-22s.

For the AR folks, the UBR negates the use of an end plate, as well.

How is the CTR with that cheek pad they have? Anyone using that? I like the ACS as well. Not sure how people are running those.

The ACS is no problem to run on the 15-22. The angled cheek weld doesn't stick up like the add-on risers and doesn't run the risk of interfering with the charging handle. It locks up tight and is very comfortable. I'd like to try modifying my 15-22 to use a UBR, but it would involve shortening the extension tube, gluing a threaded insert into it, removing the 'rib' on the underside and turning the overall diameter down to the same as the UBR's proprietary 'entry tube' as well as drilling the back of the receiver to accomodate the 1/2" alignment pin. It would be a one-chance kind of thing and if I screwed it up, the only option would be to cut the tube off and make my rifle a pistol. I'm still working up the courage to start this. It probably won't happen.
