Greyman50, is right. I collected carbines and associated equipment for about 10 years. I have seven reference books on the subject. Never have to many!

Have you ever seen one with a chromed bore?
I have one, an Inland, and it is the only one I have ever seen. Not an aftermarket barrel.
I found a book reference on the subject. Was curious if what you must know about that agrees with what I read.

Can't say that I have. May have been some made like that for test guns. Will look in my reference books to see if any are mentioned.

A young collector picked up a Presentation 30 Cal. Carbine at a local show. Widow was selling off her late husbands guns and he happened to walk by table as she put it out. She didn't know what it was and had less than $2K on it. He didn't know exactly what is was but he bought it and brought it to my tables. IIRC had " War Baby" and we looked it up, Very nice and Rare. He felt like he had the " goose that laid the golden egg". I joked him he took it home, put it on his bed and rolled and rubbed on it like a dog , LOL….

I've got a IAI M-1 Carbine in 5.7 Johnson with a lot of ammo. The creator of the round is the same Johnson of the semi rifle and MG from WW2. This round was created to convert Air Force carbines to a hi velocity .22 and save them some money. They went with the AR. It shoots a 45 grn bullet at around 2,700 fps and I love it. It's a little heavier because of the thicker barrel.
