3/4 of the ammo shelves are empty. 1/3 of the guns in the cases are gone. Asked employee ***, he says panic shopping on ammo and a lot of first time gun buyers panic shopping. Lots of new gun owners scares me! Better start wearing a vest.

Panic

i think my wife's people may finally understand me moving us to the woods . but i must say it may still be a stretch for them . not a hunter , shooter or fisherman in the lot . i try to remember to pray for them also as they are good people and now i have known most of them over 40 years . kenny

I visited a local small shop to put hand money down on a Ruger SBH they have. Normally there are 1-2 people there besides me when I visit. Yesterday they had a roll of tickets with a sign to take a number. My number was xxxx89. They were waiting on customer xxxx52. I waited a bit then left. In the time I was there I saw one gun sold. Single actions aren't in high demand it seems. All plastic 9s. If it's there when I go back I'll get it if it isn't "oh well"

The key to finding ammo around here is to look where southern New England doesn't have easy access. That means look farther north and well away from the interstates. I got a call from someone in CT yesterday, he was looking for ammo and striking out everywhere he went along I-91 in southern VT and NH. I told him where to go, which was a 2 hour drive away from the interstate. He found fully stocked shelves and ammo on sale. I didn't ask him why he felt the need to travel 200 miles to buy ammo...stir crazy from living in a locked down state I suppose and needed a road trip.

I have zero, zilch reasons to be in a gun store, none.
I agree with ladder13. No reason to go to a gun store right now. It seems that the majority of the people there are either new gun buyers or panic ammo buyers who didn't learn anything from the previous .22 ammo shortage.

Oh well. Maybe they'll learn something now from all this. Hard times is a great educator.

There are a couple of gun stores near me that I usually stop in to a couple of times a month. I buy from them rather than trying to save a couple of bucks at WalMart. I'm known in both and usually pretty warmly greeted so I like to stop by.

Given the current situation, I am staying away. Maybe in a month or so …

I AGREE...

I have zero, zilch reasons to be in a gun store, none. I'm staying home, going out just to get food/essentials or go for a walk in a large open air park.

I agree with you ladder13...I have an auto immune disease and take methotrexate which seriously compromises my immune system...so I have to be extra careful regarding this virus...I wish other people would take this as seriously as you and I do...Roger

I find the current situation for the "new gun owners" & the "anti-gunners" to be a combination of
* ironic
* comical
* frighting

They have learned that you really cant "order a firearm online and have it ship to your house".

The prices that they are paying today are sky-high ridiculous.
Product availability is sparse at best.

When asked why firearms and ammo are so expensive and difficult to obtain , the answer was simple
"Look in the mirror"

My thoughts exactly! Many of us thought times like this could arrive. Home defense is just as it's always been. No need to barricade the doors and "load for bear." No need to run off to a gunshop for ammo or a firearm. Food and supplies in the larder. You'll not find me in line for a latte or a hamburger. I roast my own coffee (see that other thread) and cook my own food. I can hunker down with the best of 'em.

For those first time gun buyers who are frustrated I'd offer this explanation, COMMON SENSE GUN LAWS
