I would like to see more offerings with 4 1/4" barrel lengths
Its been done with the mod-629, 69 ,686 and 66
I own an example of each of the first 3 and i will own the 66 when i can find one with a properly centered barrel
Specifically id like to see a 6 shot 617 next please

Just curious: why do you feel that 1/4 inch matters so much? All the listed guns are available in four inch configuration, so what’s the big deal?
No dissing you at all, purely curious.
If we were talking 1911s, I would be all the way on the bandwagon.

I believe in Canada 4 1/4 is minimum Barrel length

Exactly , the people that know what's best for us decided the minimum barrel length and completely banned 25 and 32 calibers
Those that owned them can keep them but no new owners

Adding a 1/4" to our 4" guns wouldn't bother me one bit. Long as2 they keep making 2 and 3" guns. I doubt it would even matter on the majority of 4" holsters if you shoved a 4 1/2 in them a coupler time.

I don't think the Canadians needed holsters. Can't carry anywhere but from safe to range. Sad.

The Canadian requirement is 105mm, which is 4.13" and I beleive it goes back to 1991 or 1992.

It;s the major reason for the 4.2" barrels from Ruger, the 4.13" barrel on the S&W 625, and the 4.25" barrels on the current S&W Model 19, Model 66 and Model 69.

The IDPA stock revolver length limit is 4.25" which accommodates it as well.

As I understand it, the reason for the 105mm minimum length restriction was to prevent the importation of affordable police surplus 4" revolvers and semi-autos, mostly from the US.

Funny how so many of us want 4 1/4 barrel revolvers and still buy holsters Lol

Yes the excuse was to get rid of the saturday night specials
Truth is RCMP had never wanted civilians to own handguns and that goes all the way back to Sam Steele .
That said some of our firearms officers are decent enough guys/ladies

A lot of the Canadian regulations look like they borrowed heavily from California.

Long before that, here in the US the "Saturday Night Special" issue was pushed hard when the GCA of 1968 was written. The related import restrictions of the GCA of 1968 had the full support of our own gun industry. Their interest was to limit imports of in expensive pistols and revolvers that were stealing market share from US companies.

The gun industry got away with it as the average gun over either never knew it, forgot it, or remembered it wrong. Much the same way that the average gun owner in the US remembers Reagan as being pro-gun. He was not. He was pro law enforcement and just as anti-gun as he could get away with and still get the conservative vote.

You KNOW the answer. We've had 4" bbls forever......Now 4 1/4" to cotow to Canada........Now all our 4" holsters won't work with the newer guns.......Again you knew the answer before you ask the question.

My 629 fits fine in a holster designed for. 4"N frames
Seems like buying a holster for your new gun shouldn't really that be that big of a deal .
Besides there were a lot of older revolvers that were shipped as nominal 4" barrels but actually
Measured as 4 1/4" you mad about that too ?
