Making a list of 3rd Gen TSW Models with Integral Rails

CHP started getting rails on the ' d' series 4006tsw. They were riveted and crap ( rivets loose, breaking, only fit s&w light). Then went to integral rails. The 4013tsw didn't have rails
Thanks.

I wasn't involved in our orders, but if I'd been involved I'd have pushed for the 4513TSW, 4013TSW and 3913TSW runs to have come without those chintzy aluminum rails.

Turned out S&W offered to change the riveted rails to the machined rails half way through the runs of the 4006TSW & 4566TSW models we were getting, but the guy who took the call decided to stay with the riveted rails for the next runs. When I found out and asked him why, he said he thought it would be better for morale if all the weapons had the same rails, and half the weapons weren't equipped with the integral rails.

1. The 4013tsw was crap, had to destroy dozens because the frame cracked and all the 4006TSW with the integral rails started day one

How many rounds were typically involved when the frames cracked?

My own early-production 4013TSW has maybe 4K on it, as I sidelined it for several years when shooting other .40's, including an issued 4013TSW. I only had the issued one for maybe a year, during which time it was only used for a week-long firearms instructor update class, in addition to my regular plainclothes assignment and normal range work. It didn't get worked nearly as hard as the early production 5903's and 6906's I carried at different times.

One of the 6906's I carried eventually racked up approx 45K rounds fired on the frame. One of the guys at the factory laughed when I told him how many rounds I'd put on that frame, and told me they'd never expected anyone to shoot those light guns that much. Granted, I replaced the springs more often than normally recommended, but that was because we were issuing some +P and +P+ duty ammo at various times, after so many years of standard pressure 147gr loads.

PC9 on a CHP4006 frame. Don't think this counts, but still kinda cool.

That slide was fitted to a 4046TSW Brinks frame and runs just fine. Just for fun I slipped it on the CHP frame. Looks like it should work. So would you call it a PC-CHP-SSV?

3914TSW. We need a thread for that one.

I assume when you say Integral Rail, you are talking about rail as part of frame like the CHP 4006TSW you mention. I have never seen 3913TSW or 3914TSW with Integral Rails - only separate rails riveted on. My 3914TSW is the riveted on type but no rail - holes appear to have been plugged at factory. But I had never seen a 5946 in blue with Integral Rail. I would be interested in seeing any other "Integral Rail" models.

Same sort of deal with my Shorty Forty slide. Have an extended Barsto barrel to thread and make a mini Comp 40 from it
I'd buy something like that today. I just feel more secure carrying a da/sa or dao with firing pin block. There's no stored energy waiting to be released and the firing pin is shielded from outside objects.

I know I could carry a Beretta or a SIG, but I want something American made. And I think S&W 3rd gens just look better.

My CHP 9 assembled from a 5906TSW parts kit.
