New to the forum. Lot of good information here.

I've been looking at the MP 15-22. I'm almost convinced.

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the cheap Mark III tactical scopes available at the Valhalla armory web site. I hope the scope would hold up to .22lr for a couple of years. I can't find much information besides people blowing it off as junk in AR forums. I believe they are made by NCStar. I'm trying to keep the tacticool factor, but without spending much. 50yds would be all I would want/expect out of it. Purely plinking.

Any input or thoughts appreciated.

i picked up a nc star mkIII tactical 3-9x42 rubber armored scope this weekend at a gun show.. right then and there i called the company my optics are on backorder with and changed my order to this.. i really like this.... just my .02

I have 2 NC Star scopes one on my 15-22 and one on my ar15T and don't have any complaints on either of them.

I did have an issue with one and this is why I have no complaint... one of the scopes I traded for and found I could not get it on paper at 25 yds, sent it back to NCStar and they replaced the scope for free based on their lifetime warranty so I have no complaints...

They seem to hold up well and hold zero well under the conditions I have used them...

I have a NCStar on my SKS. It works fine for plinking.

Do we have a pic of that scope?

It is a great scope for plinking. I don't care for the lighted reticle, but to each their own. It has very clear optics and is dead simple to use.
The crosshairs don't co-witness to the iron sights tho, so I made a spacer to fix that. If I'm going to make one, I might as well make a bunch. Mine has the Weaver/Picatinny base with the quick release.

Mine should be here end of the month they said and ill post pics of it on the gun

Thanks for the replies.
Put a deposit on a 15-22 until my bg clears. I will pick it up Friday.
As long as they hold zero, it's good enough for me. Still deciding what scope I want. Didn't know about the warranty on them, very nice for a cheap scope.
Can't wait to put some rounds through it this weekend.

New optics came in and i figured id go back and post pics for 27 cause he asked:D:D it features a quick detach a built in laser and the reticle glows bright blue... this thing is sweet:D... oh and it 3-9x42mm

I got the same exact one one the way. I was going to buy the original ncstar mark III 3-9x42 with out the laser but i found one with the laser for the same exact price. Holding zero pretty good?

I've been looking for a scope and a laser. This one looks like it will kill two birds with one stone. I shoot in the cold a lot. Does it fog up?

i havent hadd any prob. other than when the battery gets weak you cant use the laser and lit reticle together but the battery holds up pretty good.. i gave $152... shipped to my door

Been looking at the Sniper Comp. What do ya think about extending the Sniper Comp about 9 inches longer..... I mean 9 inches longer inside the rail. There's a lot of big holes in that rail to see right thru. Guess you'd need to work up a new end cap...

Vitamin3..... stop shaking that silver spray can:)

I got mine pretty cheap $113.00 shipped. I will be posting up pics of my 15-22 once I get it back from S&W, hopefully this week. The scope looks awesome on your gun.

thanx, i think it goes good with that shroud... you got the rubberized 3-9x42mm for 113 shipped dang dude i thought i got a deal cause everywhere else wanted 200 for it

It can be don no prob.. just time consuming

If you don't mind me asking, where did you order it? Best I've seen is $164 with a free spotting scope. NcSTAR Tactical and Red Dot Scopes and Accessories for AR-15, M16 and all Rifles and Pistols

I got mine off of ebay, all of the rubberized ncstar 3-9x42's w/ laser sight where like $164.00 buy it now and then i found one for auction for $99.00 so I bid on it and won it for $113.00. I've been looking and waiting to find one for pretty cheap and I finally did, took me about 2-3 weeks to find one but I got it.

I had a 2-7 NcStar the reticle was canted "out of level" and cannot be adjusted since there are no scope rings. I returned it for a Vortex 2-7.

Belt-Fed it's hard to tell but in the 3rd picture yours looks the same. Might just be the picture.

No its perfect, just not talented enough to hold gun on target and operate camara at the same time lol

Just got my Ncstar Mark III 3-9x42 today and guess what, I have the same problem as 919 did the cross hairs are out of level. I put the scope on a level surface then looked down the scope and noticed that the cross hairs where not level. Don't know what I should do now hopefully the eBay member will give me a full refund back, because in order to get it fixed or a new one back you have to pay for shipping to ship it to Ncstar and give them $10.00 for them to ship it back to you after it's either fixed or they send you a new one if it can't be fixed. I'm pissed.

I can't really be to mad about it though because I've read some reviews about the same problem I have, but was hoping that mine wouldn't be like that. It looks like it would be an awesome scope if the cross hairs where level. Don't really know if I want to buy another Ncstar though. Are their any other scope out their that have a quick release lever and the same design as the Ncstar?

I just bought a NStar holo sight with 4 reticles . I was pleasantly surprised at both quality and performance. I will probably buy another for my Sig 522, too.

You can buy the NcStar quick release picatinny rail, and put on any scope you want. I put a 50MM on mine and it fits fine. The scope outperforms the .22 but thats ok.

Went to the local gun show today looking for sights/scopes.

The NC Star 1.25-4x 30 mm looked really nice. At 1.25x, it's close enough to use 2 eye aiming with quite a bit of eye relief. Was still bright at 4x. The reticles illuminate REALLY bright, especially when green.

I'm assuming this mounts the same as everyone who has the 3x-9x version. Is the height OK? Any issues?

Anyone know of other scopes in this price range and zoom ranges from 1.0/1.25 - 3x or 4x?

I've attached a pix of my 1.25-4X NCS scope mounted on my 15-22. The height is OK for me, and I don't see the need for adding an extra riser at all. (Your mileage may vary...)

So far, it's working really well for me, and I do like the low-power option of having both eyes open and great visibility. Plus, the higher-power option in case I ever take this out for small game. I have yet to sight-in the other top-turret settings though (is now just sighted-in on "1" at 50 feet for our indoor range, but I really need to get back out and see where "2" thru "5" hit, as I believe the scope is calibrated for .223 ammo with a 100-yard zero).

Some other users (Amazon reviews) have reported "slanted reticle problems", but others have also cured that by pressing down HARD on that side of the rail when you tighten it up. I did that, and dare I say my Sniper reticle is close to perfect.

Oh... and I really do like how my limited-edition 10-round mag looks on this piece too. (Search on my prior posts, if you missed the details on how to make those!)

Tight groups all!

I had the slanted reticle problem with my 3-9x42 and could not do anything to get them level. So I called up NCstar and shipped it to them and now their are sending me a brand new replacement that should be here this week. NCstar has great customer service.

I'm still wanting to do your 10 round mag mod also, just haven't had the time to do it.

1. Which reticle did you get (I'm thinking MIL-DOT)

2. Do you have any issues with the illumination being TOO bright (ie - you can't see the target)?

3. Did you look at other brands/models?
