I knew these existed but never saw one until today. I would say probably 80% condition and was wondering if anyone here has one and if so, do you follow the prices on these. I know the story behind them and the limited production. Wonder what one should go for in this condition.

They don't show up often and when they do they are most times pricey. They have a couple on Guns International. One on there is a newer one in like new condition for $1349.00. The ones I have seen were in the $1200. range and that has been a few years. I have a number of marlin riles but would not pay that or anywhere close to that for a 410.

I believe they were distributed to Marlin preferred stockholders during the late 1920s-early 1930s. How many, I do not know.

I collect Marlins but I've never been able to fork up what they bring. At auction, usually $1200 and up plus the fees for average condition guns. Higher condition bring even more. I personally don't see it but others obviously do.

Thank you all for your input, I'll let this one remain at the store.

Not sure why but I don't see a picture.

I will say 2k is not uncommon for a nice one. Got my hand slapped for listing a friend's on MO a while back. He sold it in a week after they deleted the listing.

The "Stockholders/Shareholders" special was built on the '94 rifle platform.....they were offered in two different bbl lengths,w/ a checkered stock or non-checkered stock. From 1929-1932. W/ the purchase of Stock...@ 100$ a share. In that time frame You had to be "well-heeled" to buy ANY stock@100$ a share! I also see no photo in your post.
The above info is from the best of my recolection......so keep that in mind.

The orig .410 lever action was a standard cataloged item for sale to the public.
It was also one of the guns that Marlin offered up as a bonus to people who bought 4 shares of Marlin stock at the time for $100 ($25/share).
You could opt for a 5th share of stock as well for free instead, in place of the firearm offer.
This was one of the ideas of Frank Kenna who bought the MArlin/Rockwell company at bankrupt auction after WW1.
Raise $$ quickly to get the 'new' company back on it's feet.

It wasn't a big seller off the shelf, but did remain on the price sheets to retailers for a few yrs.
Deluxe editions were listed but those around are often looked at by collectors with suspect.
Simple checkering and and a bit of fancy grain in the wood will do it.
The latter may show up in most any plain grade issue. The former can be added easily enough.
Hocus Pocus,,it's a Deluxe

The shotgun was built on the Model 1893 lever action which later became the Model 1936
Rifle cals 30-30,32Spcl, 38-55, 32-40...

Marlin offered a few other cataloged guns for the same stock share bonus purposes. One was one of the many hammer pump shot guns they mfg'd, can't recall the exact Model# (each gauge had a separate model# even though they were the same gun 12,16 & 20)

As stated,,these orig shotguns will have the old square bolt actions.
The new issue 410's are built on the round bolt actions of the 336/444 actions.
