Ed Markey who is running for the Kerry seat has released 3 new ads where he says while he supports the 2nd Amendment he is going to fight the NRA tooth and nail and get guns off our streets. I guess to Mass liberals, the 2nd Amendment is about arming militia's with bows and arrows, if it was good enough for Massasoit it is good enough for today!

What other state (other than CA, NJ, NY, CO, MD, CT) would have a senate candidate come out so strong against gun ownership?

Swell, this is the best we (MA) have to offer! So in his mind how does fighting the NRA show his support for the Second Amendment?

EDIT: To add one more thing, I believe there are a fair share of gun owners in MA, through many seem to be "in the closet" so as to not draw negative attention from friends, family and neighbors alike. This is truly sad, honest people being treated as though they are lepers.

NRA EVIL MARKEY GOOD

I am writing letters to my state senator and rep. every week pushing against all the new gun laws they are trying to put in, especially Linsky's you have to keep your guns at the gun range.

Markey knows his audience, since 1998 gun ownership is down from 1.2 million to 260,000.

Did I mention I hate the politics in this state?

I don't know Ben. Most of the safety classes here in the SE part of the state are booked well into the summer. The local PD's are reporting that they can't keep up with the new LTC applications. Membership in my local club has skyrocketed. I've talked to many people who are getting permits who had never wanted one before they thought they might not be able to get one. I think the big challenge for us is getting these people to the polls. If we can do that, and that's a big if, I think we might be able to start to turn the corner a little bit here.

Mass. has a political machine. You can be sure that only safe candidates will ever be elected.

Maybe "the Sleeping Giant" may be awakening?

It seems to have here in Hawaii.

Mu hope is that he Stay awake thru the 2014 election year.

I thought i'd be happy when Kerry resigned, but if the answer is Ed Markey, God help us all...At least Kerry just sat there and only looked stupid. Between Markey, Warren and Patrick, big trouble is just around the corner for gun owners.

Ben,
I was born in CT and lived most of my life in MA.
I was schooled in the story of the French and Indians burning Deerfield in the middle of the night and made many a trip to see the door with the hole cut in it at the museum in the same town. Many a Minute Man is turning over in his grave watching this happen.
A ray of hope. Another of the SASS crew took on Gov Malloy in CT last night at a Town Hall Meeting In Norwich CT (Home of even more Gun History, Ironic). To say she gave the Gov a run for his money on the gun question and the shooting sports would be an understatement.
We are fighting tooth and nail to keep them from using emergency certification here to pass the package proposed by the Governor.
I have been reading my kids "Paul Revere's Ride" at bedtime. Its good to know my daughter knows what a redcoat is.

Keep up the good work.

Did you actually expect anything else??? Please!!

I just put my NRA sticker, Semper Fi sticker and TED NUGENT for PRESIDENT sticker on the back of my truck. I love watching the other motorists at the red traffic lights creep up and peek over, all wide eyed, to see who is driving. I just sit there and smile. 6 years till retirement and I'll be heading North.

Why nobody in the media is defending against this crazy assumption liberals keep spreading as if the trigger happy NRA members were the ones out there causing these mass shootings ?

I don't expect the help from media but isn't there anybody out there to point out that "NOT one of these recent mass shootings caused by an NRA member or concealed carry permit holder (aka legally armed citizens).

We are loosing the fight because we can't come up with fancy sounding but meaningless labels like "jobs saved", "fair share", "balanced approach", "common sense solutions"....

We need a good marketing company who can sell ice to Eskimos not the NRA...

Likewise. Our club in Western MA is running 40 people a month through the NRA Basic Pistol course so they can get their licenses, and we're booked into the summer. Club membership is way up, and as you say, I hope we can get them to the polls. Markey is the worst of the bunch running for the Senate seat.
