An Act To Strengthen and Enhance Firearms Laws in the Commonwealth

The Commonwealth is taking cues from New York, and proposing a seven round magazine limit. It actually may be worse that that of New York as it mentions "capable of accepting, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than seven rounds of ammunition." (See section 6)

Time to write and call guys. The one or two click petitions floating around were easy, but they were not enough.

It may wind up being up to the "People" to save the Constitution.......not to be infringed. Oath of office seems to mean little to some Polititions. Seems ironic that the shot heard around the world came from Lexington.

I could see this coming a mile away, once NY had to open the floodgates, Mass was sure to follow suit. It may be time to consider a relocation away from "The Peoples Republic of Taxachusetts". . . .

It is a shame that laws like these seemingly need no tracking to get passed.

I really love living in New England because of the rich history here, sadly that is rapidly becoming less of a reason to remain here.

looks like they're playing leapfrog.

I live in NY and I want to move. South Carolina or Texas may be an option. I say all the people in the blues states that are true gun owners, move to red states. We can pressure the people in the red states that are anti-gun to move to the blue states. I have no problem having a separated country. This idea we are all American's is pure B.S.. If you do not follow the constitution left or right, you are not an American. I do not see this country getting any better in any way unless we segregate our politics. We are not going to convince each other of our ways so might as well have a fence between us. I think we would get along better this way. No this has nothing to do with race at all, just who values the constitution and follows it and who does not. Crazy idea but you will see some of what I said become a reality.

I wonder how Smith and Wesson would get around such a law since they produce magazines for sales in states without such infringement. I wonder if the payrolls in Springfield might get considerably smaller.

I see you'd have to get rid of your high-cap mags; no grandfathering in this one. How pleasant.

I just re-read that whole piece of garbage, and now I remember I'm out of Tums!

It is truly a slap in the face to legal, law abiding, honest citizens and I am now saving my money to buy my freedom from this oppressive "commonwealth".

I have often wished this could happen as well. Let one half live under liberal leftist rule and the other have be for the constitution. The country is so divided to begin with, there is no way everyone can be made happy so why not just split the government in half, no need to make it bigger since one side will only have to represent half of what they are now. This solution brings along another list of issues that would need to be figured out.

The last time we tried that 625,000 people died.

IMHO this is a ploy to induce a 'compromise' that would be a NATIONAL restriction to 10 rounds.

Most national sqwack going around is saying any mags out there will be grandfathered as OK. No new production. Same as last 'ban'.

States however can add further restrictions.

There's a big rally today at noon in Boston. It may be harder to pass this stuff here in MA after we've seen the NY law stampeded through in the middle of the night. When the federal restrictions expired in 2004, the MA legislature adopted all the provisions of that law as state law here. So everybody bought "postban" guns and 10-round magazines. The older hi-cap mags were grandfathered in as legal items, but they're rare and expensive. Now those $60+ magazines would have to be gotten out of the state in one year (at no compensation) or result in a felony charge. And anyone loading more than 7 rounds in a 10-round mag would be a felon, too. There's more, but I'll spare you.
I read that the clowns in NY forgot to exempt the police from the new law, but they plan to amend it. I'm as big a supporter of law enforcement as anyone here, but I think in this case the legislators who voted against the new law should block the amendment and see what happens. Maybe they can force some changes.
