Any person on here have the nerve to try a McDonald's lobster role sandwich. I have seen their advertising on TV for a couple weeks now!

They are asking $9.00 for it and I wonder if any on here had the audacity to try it. I for one would be leery of a item like that.( er make that most anything they would hand you in a cardboard box!):D

Must be a regional offering.
Haven't heard about it round here.
I have never had a Lobster Roll but have heard of them.
I know you Yankee Boys swear by them!
I would most certainly try one if I had the opportunity.
Can you get Green Chili up there in NY?

Your braver than I am!:)

I honestly do not know, I'm not a fan of Chil (or basically any spicy hot food):D I just asked my wife and she says some places do!

I have never once been impressed by lobster rolls... from the typical seasonal sub shop variety... to our various summer shacks here in moonbat Massachusetts... all the way up to the very best that Maine has to offer. :o McDonald's? Sorry, I'll pass. ;)

I guess I am just not a lobster roll kind of guy. :)

I've never heard of the lobster sandwich but I'm leery of all the "mystery" meat. I stay away from Taco Bell because the meat just doesn't look right. I'm also not a fan places that scoop ingredients from tubs that have been sitting on a steam table for nobody knows how long.

When I lived in Louisiana, there was a big news story about a Chinese buffet restaurant in town. Somehow the news got infrared videos of rats crawling over the buffet table overnight. Not just one or two rats either. They closed the place down, completely wrapped the building and fumigated the entire building. When they reopened, people actually went back to the restaurant to eat. Knowing what went on there, I'd never go there even for free.

Just got back from a visit to MA, and enjoyed "real" lobster rolls on a couple of occasions. I tried the Mickey-D version some years back...once was enough. Like the McRib, it must be an acquired taste (or lack thereof). Shaw's grocery stores offer a three-pack of small rolls for $9.99....good enough for first timers.

I remember a vacation with family in 1959 we stopped at a drive-in restaurant in Maine and they had lobster rolls for $.25 and a hotdog for $.30. Guess what we ordered. I don't think I'd chance lobster at McDonalds although I took a chance and ordered a couple lobster tails and steak at Ruby Tuesdays the other night and they were pretty good.

I don't buy hamburgers at lobster places, and I don't buy lobster at hamburger places . . .

Several years ago we were in the Northeast and I got a bowl of clam chowder at McDs. It wasn't nowhere as good as Gracies in Stowe, Vt. but it was ok. Gracies was the best I have ever had. If I was in McDs that had lobster rolls I would try one. The only thing better than a lobster roll is 2 lobster rolls. Larry

Must be regional and have not heard of them here in PA. ;)
We have a local seafood restaurant that does them and they are pretty good!
So now McDoogles is making synthetic Lobster meat!

What is a lobster's role anyhow?

Lobster rolls at McD's. What could possibly go wrong?

A Midwesterner like me would say a lobster roll is a lobster salad sandwich. I am not the fan of lobster my wife is so when we made a trek to Maine many years ago I tried one at a nice roadside place while she and the kids dug into their whole lobsters. It was OK but since I can't say I am a huge fan of lobster in any form I would not be a fair judge.

And, I will admit that I did indeed try the McDonald's offering. Been a long time ago so my recollections are fuzzy but it was also OK but not as good as the roadside place if for no other reason than the surroundings. We loved Maine and should go back.

So, in answer to the OP it won't kill you but if you are visiting from elsewhere go for the roadside lobster shack instead and enjoy the view out the window in addition to the great food.

Bet ya some folks from Maine could tell you the best lobster shacks to stop at.

t.

As I'm from the Adirondack mountain area in Northern NY not too many roadside lobster shacks around.:D

As far as Maine that place has some very good eating. Been up there a few times and came back heavier than when we left NY.

Strange as it might seem; the locals in Maine were more likely to recommend the best local hot dog stand, instead of lobster rolls on the several times I have visited....Ayup !

I suppose Wisconsinites occasionally get tired of cheese; folks from Nebraska grow weary of beef too I guess; and I doubt Forest Gump has eaten a shrimp in years.

But I guess this thread is more about McDonald's than about food.
