I've got a couple revolvers w/patridge front sights. Finding the eyes aren't what they used to be. Was thinking a gold or a colored bead would be helpful while not ruining the looks of the guns. I realize the fiber optic front sights would probably be most effective but just don't care for the appearance. I get enjoyment shooting my Smiths well, my enjoyment also comes from admiring their good looks.
How much work/expense would be required for this modification? Not interested in attempting it myself, to paraphrase Dirty Harry, "A man should know his limitations."
Tks, Kevin

Pinned front sights should not be a problem.Order the McGivern Bead from Smith and have a local gunsmith install.Be sure to tell them the correct height of the sight when ordering.

If you don't like a gold bead try a white dot or ivory bead a gunsmith would have to modify the blade. I have had this done on several guns and it is my favorite all around front sight.

When I looked into it, gold bead front sights are actually gold, and quite expensive (+$50) for just the sight. I would go with the an ivory bead or the FO. I'll be putting a FO front sight on my 617 soon to replace its partridge front.
