MDL 34, does this make sense? Pics added

Cost just as much to make a QUALITY .22 revolver as a 357/38/44 etc............Only the HOLE diameters are different.

I'm always amazed that people can't understand that!
Do they think the steel is less expensive or that there are somehow fewer machine operations used to produce the frame and internals simply due to the caliber?
I guess some people just don't think.

MDL 34, does this make sense?

These $700-$800 prices for mod 34s just seem too high to me. I bought

this 34-1 about eight years ago in like new, no box, condition for $350.

I replaced the original magnas with these but the originals aren't going

anywhere.

"About eight years ago". Apples to oranges, no comparison. You can't even compare prices from 2 years ago. Same with the M28's - prices are going through the roof.

Yes, as long as it's from a J frame, the Mod 34-1 or later. We see them on Ebay pretty often separately or in 'parts kits'. Do a search for "vintage gun parts smith"; also on gunbroker.

An I frame Mod 34 or pre-34 cyl will be too short. You can tell because the cyl looks square (diameter and length are the same).

Some will be 'drop ins' some may need slight typical fitting.

I picked up a like new never fired 34-1 4" nickel yesterday for what I felt was a very good price st $725. It was at a local gun show and another dealer there had about 10 34's in blue and nickel. All were 4" and all had been fired. Some were well used and others in good condition. I wouldn't say any were anywhere near new. The prices ranged from $950 to $1200.

Please excuse the quick photos.

Thanks that sounds super, will it shoot as good as the mag?The mag barrels are supposed to be a little bigger! Thanks Mark

You did very well, that's a screamer!

And you don't see as many sq butts as you do rd butts, especially Mod 34s and earlier to 1953.

I sold a 34-1 last November. It was a 2" barrel, nickel, NIB with all papers. The buyer was more than happy to buy the revolver and I was more than happy to take the $1100 he offered.

I started out at $1200 as I REALLY didn't want to sell. But, considering I only had $300 (2015 Dollars) in it I figured it was prudent on my part to sell.

Class III

This one was $400 it was NIB, polish job wasn't perfect from the factory. They ain't making anymore of 'em.
