Mdl 625 Cast Bullets?

For you mdl 625 shooters out there, which cast bullets do you find most accurate in 45acp/ar? 200 gr, 230 gr, semi-wadcutter, round nose or truncated cone. I am looking at the 775 - 830 FPS range. Probably be using either Titegroup, Bullseye, or WST. My 625 doesn't seem to like my 1911 IPSC load.

I've had good luck with the Rainier plated 200 WC's and cast 230 RN's out of mine with Bullseye.

My 625-3 is accurate with whatever it gets fed. I mostly run 200-gr Tennessee Valley Bullets LSWCs through it.

I agree with Eric. I have yet to find a bullet & load combination it doesn't like. Actually now, that they don't like. I've got 3, 4 & 5 inch 625-3s. All perform spectacularly.

I've shot 200 grain LSWC, 200 grain plated SWC, 230 grain LRN, 230 grain FMJ, 225 grain LRNFP, 255 grain LFP [45 Colt bullets] all with various loads of Bullseye, W231, Unique and AA#5. And, a fair bit of assorted factory ammo.

Everything shoots great. I couldn't shoot tighter groups if I was using an hand held laser.

Most frequently shoot the 200g LSWC with 5.0 grains of 231. I've made that my "standard' all purpose .45 acp load. Works well in everything except my Sig P220. That one chokes on SWC bullets.

For Bullseye work, my 5" 625-6 likes a 185gr Missouri Bullet LSWC and 4.3gr AA#2 (or roughly 4.1gr Bullseye equivalent) behind it. Shots are on-call at 50 yards, and will tear out the center at 25 yards easily, all shot Bullseye-style (one handed, standing, no support)

For close-in work involving short distances, fast shooting, and reloading, I'd probably go with a 230gr LRN bullet and 4.5 to 5.1ish grains of AA#2.

200 grain SWCs sized to 452 and a charge of Unique that is near max in most reloading manuals. Usually 6-6.5 grains.

Depending on what style shooting you are doing, for USPSA and iCORE shooting the best bullet is the 230 grain. You will feel less recoil then with a lighter bullet going faster.

The Truncated bullet is the most accurate bullet made. It was designed with perfect ballance and even Veral Smith of LBT suggests this mold over all others.

Bullseye works fine with this bullet and just about any other. Win 231 or HP-38 ( the same powder) also work very well. I haven't played with Titegroup yet.

My M625JM absolutely devours everything I feed it and it takes it all superbly.

From 240gr LSWC @ 1100fps to 200gr H&G #68 LSWC @ 750fps. With the shallow rifling, size and bullet hardness are important. If you have the right size, hardness isn't so important.

From wild to mild, it likes them all.

What is your IPSC load?
I shoot the 185 gr. LSWC at 720 and 790 fps, the 230 gr. Rainier at 650 and 750 fps and a 230 gr. FMK at 650 and 750 fps. I use either HS-700X, American Select, WST olr VV N-310.

My IPSC load is 4.8 of WST 200gr LSWC. Before they lowered the power factor years ago, I shot 5.1 WST, I have never tried 230 gr RN or truncated cone, so I was wondering how these shot.

I have a 625-3 also. I like the 230 RNL bullets. Favorite loads are 5.1 Unique or 4.1 Bullseye. OAL is 1.238. Another option is the 185 SWC over 5.1 Unique or 4.1 Bullseye also. OAL for these is 1.250. AR or ACP are irrelevant. They shoot the same. Primer brand is irrelevant. Get the cheapest you can find. For the 625 I've found that using the same lot of cases helps a bit for consistency. I bought a lot of 500 CBC brass years ago just for the 625. Work great. You never lose cases as with the autos. Similar lot of R-P AR cases. Best deal on bullets I've found lately is Friendswood Bullet Co. Nice bullets, fair prices, fast service.

I shoot USPSA Revolver with a Lee 228 grain RN over 4.3 grains of Bullseye. This load makes just over 750 fps from my 4 inch 625-8 with a 7 fps SD.

im still working on a good load for my 3 inch 625-3 but it seams to shoot good with any thing i put in it, they swc dont drop in as easy as i would like so im looking at other cast bullets

I shoot 200 gr. LSWCs through my 6" Model 25-2. I usually go with 4.3 grains of Bullseye, sometimes 5 grains of W-231; both are very accurate.
