I searched and didn't find anything in this forum about this so here goes. Anyone located in NJ with an AR should consider this class. I took the shotgun 1&2 class with MDTS and found it very helpful and let me wanting more. I've heard great things from other forum members who have already taken the Carbine class so I cant wait to take it. Price is $190 for a full day's course. I would definitely recommend it if you can spare the cash and want to exercise your carbine skills in a safe fashion. I'll be there!

Thanks for sharing this with us. I wish I was in NJ :)
(although none of my rifles are NJ compliant)

Sounds like a decent course, but the $190 to register plus 500 rounds of 5.56, its a little too expensive for me. I'm only 2 towns away, has this club always been open to rifle and pistol? Do you have to hunt to join? I would consider joining the club if the fees are reasonable. Right now I shoot at Monmouth County Rifle and Pistol club in wall and shoot trap here in Lacey Twp.

Don't know too much about the club. I've only been there once or the shotgun class and it was completely reserved for us that day. Here's the site if you want to look for more details.

Buckeye Gun Club

With membership at $600 per year that's a big nut to chew. They may as well just have you fill out a 4473 with the questions they have on the membership application.

Yeah, I'm not joining the club or anything, just using it because they're hosting the MDTS course.

$600, I'll pass on the membership. For that much money I would join Central Jersey in Jackson. They have indoor handgun range 24 hours a day and rifle outside up to 3,000 yds. I'll stick with the range I go to in Wall, and shoot trap here in town.

Sure you didn't mean 300 yds?

The $190 plus at least another $175 for ammo (500 rounds 5.56 and another 200 9mm) I pass, although I bet it would be fun. My club does a 3 gun shoot for free with a number of the instructors ex-military or police.

Where are you picking up our 556 ammo from? Cheapest I've been able to find 500 rounds for is for $125.

I know people use the Tulo and Wolf that is inexpensive and have no problems, but I like to use brass. I have bought from Freedom Munitions, Lake City, Remington, and mostly Federal 62 gr. AP. I have about 2200 rounds and still buying. Freedom Munitions have been my brand of choice lately. Around $80/250 or $76/250 depending on new or reload. I do have about 1K of .223 that I buy when Dicks has it on sale at $6.99 which is often lately.

Thanks for the link. I'm gonna look into it. I's been 20 years since I've handled a M-16.

I took this course last year at a different range in NJ. I definitely learned a lot. And yes, you do burn through about 500 rounds. Bring as many mags as you can.... And if you NJ guys need help finding 15 round mags, just toss me a PM - I know plenty of dealers that sell them. Both Pmags and regular metal mags.
