Me and my Rugers...

Hellraiser

I aint been posting here much lately, just kicking back and "lurking". When I was having some fun in here, I was prob on the borderline of gitting some dings,as I liked to talk about fast wimmin, drinking etc. For some reason you kinda remind me of myself in my earlier days. I kinda like yer style, regards Ernie

P.S., I like and owns S&Ws, Colts AND some Rugers thrown in. I kinda like em ALL

My 10/22, police service six, have the 200th inscription on it. I picked up a new vaquero 45LC 7 1/2" polished stainless for $259 it was discontinued.
Before the used gun prices went crazy I grabbed a 22 target pistol and another bull barreled one for $150 each.

Never apologize for having a Marlin in a picture! ;)

A good, pre-Remington Marlin is a sweet rifle.
My 1894P is one of my favorite rifles. Lightweight, short, handy, .44 Mag.
If only I had one in .357. Would make a great companion to the 586.

I picked up an unfired 1976 ROA a few years ago, with the 200th year inscription.
Dang, those ROAs have gotten outright silly expensive.

Nice story and pics to get us into this post.

I too have owned many. The lesser price made it easy to acquire and sell.

Ive owned 5 or 6 target 22s. 1 standard. Multiple 10 22s and 77s.

some No 1s and the OU shotguns.

I liked the early 77s and BHs.

some where in my stored stuff I have a 200 yard target shot off the hood of my truck using an early 77 in 7 Rem Mag and my reloads. It is smaller than a dime.

it went whe I got tje hots for a Sako.

ive owned a 45 wirh the 7.5 bbl. It loved the Keith load.

I had 2 early BHs in 41 mag both had the 4 5/8th bbls. Perfect packing size.

I have my Dads ss 4 5/8 qnd a Bearcat. Both are keepers. Generally I carry my 22 Astra in my pocket or my uncles 1950 Hi Standard Sport King. 10 rounds and quicker to reload.

I hada stainless 77 with the flat black stock for a few years. It was in 338, stepped up 200 grain reloads were impressive on deer. Some died in their tracks and some died as they took a 2nd step. Traded a cheap pump shotgun for it from A fellow who was scared to death of the recoil. Sold it to a guy for an elk rifle.

I would like to have a No1 short rifle I. 45-70.

My first big bore revolver was an Old Model Ruger Blackhawk. A long time ago.

I still have a few Rugers.

Here's one of them...my custom 1967 Old Model Super Blackhawk. The Old Model Rugers are some of the best and most reliable handguns I've ever owned, period.

My only Ruger, a 6 inch barrel Security Six. In that holster it's probably gone several hundred miles out in the desert. It's fired over 1500 rounds, all 357. It's a keeper.

I've shot several other Rugers, a Mk I target and a #3 in 45-70 that was the hardest kicking gun I've ever fired.

It's been a long time....

Many years ago I met a guy at the range that had been the captain of some military affiliated shooting team. He had a stainless steel Ruger .357 Blackhawk and said it was the best gun he ever owned. It did have a really tight lock up. And boy, could he shoot it.

While we were talking he turned to the target and one-handed let off 6 single shot rounds in a string that made a noise something like BRRRUMP! I couldn't believe it. He was the Jerry Mikulek of single actions.

Where I have a gripe with Ruger is how much difference in price there is between a 5.5" barrel and 6 7/8" on the Target .22 pistols. Now they hardly make them. They need to bring back a longer one, too. Maybe the 10" or a 7-8", and all D&T with mounts.
I would have loved to collect #3s and Tropical #1s. The #3s seemed to just vanish.

RUGERS

My first 2 handguns were a MKl target mdl & a 44 mag SBH 7 1/2" bbl back in 1975. I went on a Ruger spree for many years, was never disappointed with them & wish I had everyone I sold back. Nice collection but you've missed out IMO never trying the da speed/security 6, redhawks, sp101, & red label 28 gauge English stock, stainless/lamie stocked varmint rifles in 22 mag & 25-06 to name a few. Still own 2 rifles & 2 pistols, I doubt I'd ever sell any of them.
