Just wondering- What tool, or method is use by members to crimp the back of medallions and hold them in place. That is for those that do such projects?? THANKS for your time. :)

I peen them as the factory does as long as there is enough of the stem sticking through. I cut a thin slot in the tip of the stem so peening is made easier. I also put a piece of soft cloth over the face of the medallion so it doesn't get scratched.

If the stem is marginal in length, I use a larger punch to gently make the "washer " concave so the stem will them come through. Do not get over zealous and hit the stem too hard and the peen only has to be slightly larger than the hole it goes through.

If the stem is way too long, trim it! No need to have a giant sized peen - and you will likely do less deformation and bending of the stem.

I only use glue if the stem is too short to protrude through the "washer".
