Medical admin in this town sucks

So we recently came close to none of the medical providers in this city taking the teachers' medical insurance. It was all down to cash flow during COVID and a lack of money. Did anyone raise flares with the school district, the county, or the state before things got ugly? Of course not. Rank incompetence.

Yesterday, I got my dose of WTH when I went to get a teeth cleaning. I must add that I was referred to this office by my old office who decided to do oral surgery only. For weeks I've got texts reminding me of the appointment. I have replied when requested. They even sent one saying "see you soon" as I was about to get into the SUV. I drive over to the office to find an empty car park and the doors locked. Errrm, really? Got a guy to come to the door who said "there is nothing on the schedule and to call on Monday".

I showed him the "see you soon" text. Nonplussed would be the polite term for his reaction. I shall call on Monday, and if the explanation for this screw up and an apparent failure to refer me to my old oral surgeon for an implant are unsatisfactory, I shall warn them to expect a request for my records from my new dentist. Bunch of bloody clowns.

I don't have much issue with the doctors here, but the office staffs are practically useless.

If they are like this county, they are "self insured." You get a card for a company that "manages" the account, looks just like health insurance. That is: $700 a month is deducted from the employee's pay and put in a "bank." They pay the "manager" whose name is on your "insurance" card to deny all claims until you meet the $900 "personal" deductible/ $8000 hospital/yr. Joe
