 My wife was telling me today that she looked on the internet and in 2013 medicare was going to cost us $120 without part "D" and in 2014 it is going to double to $240 without part "D". Does any one have any information on this? Is it true or untrue? This seems like a big increase to me. I know there will be a lot of people that will not be able to afford a big increase. Don

Was she looking on the Medicare.gov website? I just looked and my plan is still available for 2013. Plans vary by state and I live in NC so what I get and what you get won't be the same.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer last year and I hit the $6700 maximum limit.

If she wasn't looking at the Medicare.gov site, that is where I would go.

I would just go to the direct source and ask, the reason I say that is I have read some really strange things on the internet.

medicare....................

every year your premiums go UP and the reimbursement rate to medical folks goes DOWN. its called government math.

Funny you should bring this up. A friend just emailed me and told me to check out a video on myBrainshark.com called The President's $8 Billion Coincidence. I just watched it and intend to call my congressman to see if it's true!

Actually, that's not true. If you turned 65 in 2011 and took Part B, it was $115.00 (I forget the cents amount), and it went down to $99.90 for 2012. Unusual, but it happens based on the amount Medicare had to pay out.

I'm going to quit looking at this post, because you can't fix what people want to believe, and who are more ready to trust what someone's aunt's cousin-in-law read on the internet somewhere than actually checking things for themselves at the source.
