They can in my sphere.

Then you should consider yourself lucky, because in too many areas of our country HS graduates can't read or write cursive OR make change without the help of a computerized cash register that tells them how much change the customer is due.

As the father of two 20-somethings, I've seen it for myself. In retrospect, if I had it all to do over, both of my boys would have attended private schools. I just didn't realize at the time exactly how far below the bar our public schools had sunk. If I had, I would have sought better alternatives for my boys.

My dad always said that the main difference between our education system and the education system of the Soviet Union, was that we taught our kids HOW to think, whereas they taught their kids WHAT to think.

Unfortunately this is no longer true. Our education establishment is much more focused on teaching our kids WHAT to think (indoctrination) rather than HOW to think (objective truth).

JMO, and YMMV.

Last Monday I stopped in the Dixie Cream donut shop. Order was $4.74. Trying to be helpful I handed the young lady a 5 spot and three quarters. She got this deer in the headlights look😳. I explained that if she'd give me a dollar and a penny we'd be even. She (finally) did, but I left feeling she thought I'd cheated her🙄

ROFLMAO!!! That Megan Rapinoe meme is perfect. I think she also trained every bad guy who picked up a gun in the original Hawaii 5-0 series.
I realize that the whole Megan Rapinoe thing is political, but she has taken 18 penalty kicks (94.4 %) in her career and has missed one. Give me a break.

Yea and Bill Buckner fielded thousand of ground balls in his career but what is he remembered for?

And then there is Jackie Smith of Dallas in the Super Bowl, and the list goes on.

Missing penalties isn't political, it's simply an almost unforgivable offense in soccer.:D I know, I'm still an England supporter, and their ladies team nearly choked in the same way that the England men's team has done on multiple occasions. Razzing soccer players for missing penalties is a way of life for me.

That's true, but Sophia Smith missed her penalty kick as well. But everyone is focusing on Megan Rapinoe.

A) Because Rapino missed when it REALLY counted, and
B) Because SHE has made herself such a public spectacle and a political lightening rod.

Make it all about YOU, then fail, and it's all about YOU.

I don't give a fig about pro soccer, much less women's pro soccer.

But when Rapino says that her biggest accomplishment is her politically woke agenda - rather than something actually related to her performance in her chosen sport - then I have to cheer when she fails.

JMO and YMMV.
