I actually met him at a dining facility on Maxwell AFB in Montgomery AL a few years ago. Some NASA T38s were doing a cross-country and stopped by for a short bit. We chatted while standing in the chow line. I have an Aerospace Engineering degree, so we discussed the Space Program mostly. Nice guy; wasn't "stuffy" at all to this old engineer.
