I didn't have any idea why they called them caps, but sure went through lots of them. The Civil War vets in my family were all gone by then. Uncle Bert talked of shooting the old muzzle loader, but skipped the cap part and got right to the crows.

Funny thing...as kids we chased each other all over my neighborhood with our capguns blastin' away...and yet none of us ever ended up shooting anybody for real...
