Sorting through the Bermuda Triangle holster bin. I have been reminded that I have several new-condition holsters made in Canada by Mernickle. They are hell for stout and look like they will last forever, but none fit anything I own.

Does anyone have a fit/style code list for Mernickle?
Does anyone have Mernickle holsters from which they can share the fit, style, and known codes from which we/I can start building a list?
Thanks, all.

Mernickle holsters

Bob Mernickle started making holsters in Canada, but most were made after he moved to Nevada years ago. I have owned a few Mernickle holsters but can't recall any fit numbers associated with them.
Bob sold his leather business and retired a few years ago and the company is now located in Texas and is operated by Cliff Powers. They have a web-site.

If you could post pictures of the front and back of your holsters, it might be possible to identify what gun they might fit.

The one Mernickle holster I own has the gun model number stamped on the back. Guesstimate on age is 3-4 years.

I bought a Mernickle for a model 66 snub several years ago at the Reno gunshow. The made it at home when finished. The model number is stamped on the back as well M66.

I have several of his holsters for 1911a, also picked up at the Big Reno Show. They are stamped on the back. Pictures?

I bought one from Bob moons ago. If I recall I picked the holster then he made it for the gun.

I had him make it for a Shorty Forty. The same holster could have been made for a 1911.

He made a quality product and I regret selling the gun and letting the holster go with it.

Dug back into the holster heaps today; only found 3 of them so far. All have the Bob Mernickle stamp, plus the following other info: One is a R-hand small-of-back marked only as "Sig 2"--it fits my Sig P226 very well, which means it would likely also fit a P220 (no rails).
One is stamped SW 669/19--my 6906 fits, but there is room for another inch or so of barrel. The third is stamped only "P11". It is a black, right-hand IWB with a clip and no straps, and does not appear to be formed for any spedific sidearm. I'll try it with a J-frame and whatever small-framed weapons I ca lay my hands on.

Will add more info when I find the other Mernickles or get more fit info.

Small makers didn't/don't use codes to denote fitment, a company is larger and usually from the East such as DeSantis today and the Bucheimers of old to use them. Typically a small maker will have his/her own maker's mark on the backside, and a set of common letters to denote fitment, such as DS for Detective Special or 357 with a barrel length. In the 1960s makers like Bianchi began to stamp a more complete fitment along with a model number; be aware that the markings are for repeat sales vs initial sale, small makers like Andy Anderson didn't even put their own names on their goods, reasoning that the buyer would never forget who made it.

10 years ago I asked Bob Mernickle (Nevada) to make a holster for my 1926 W&K .44 HE (3rd Model)...and here it is. It's a carved crossdraw holster, with hammer thong, for my BBQ rig. Very well made and reasonably priced at the time. I cannot comment on the current Mernickle products.

Some time back (January, I think) I ordered a Mernickle holster for my like new S&W 659. It arrived two weeks ago, and initial examination suggests it to be made for several lifetimes of use. the fit and finish is equal to the other items I have ordered from the company, from both the Nevada and the Pampas, TX facility. My other Mernickle holster is for a blue three-inch Model 36 and a matching belt, the combo being my only BBQ rig. Today it is holding a three-inch Taurus M-85 with G10 grips, because my brother wanted his M-36 returned.
