I have not been tempted by too many firearms of late, but really liked handling the metal ("Bronze & Gray") M&P 2.0. Expensive as you would expect, but maybe worth it? Anyone have one of these? Any differences other than the frame?

I really like the metal frame and the way it shoots. Trigger is nice with some take up and a good crisp break.

Looks pretty good too.

I have had one a couple weeks now and also really like it. I am still getting used to the trigger, it is just enough different from the standard that I am used to so it takes a bit more work. Does it do anything the polymer won't? Not really, but it's all metal, just a little bit heavier and solid in the hand, and as we all know...

plastic has no soul...

IMHO the best M&P to date. I've been an Apex customer for my previous M&P's to replace the trigger but not so with this one. Good trigger out of the box and optics ready. Just renewed my CC permit and it was my pistol of choice for the qualification. I'm sure the polymer version is just as good but being a 3rd gen fan I really like the look and feel of the metal frame. Not really looking for any more pistols at this time but will get the compact version if and when they offer it. I'm not interested in the competition model but others like it. These cost a little more than the polymer but worth it to me. As you can see the optics cut is well placed and no longer requires a dovetail mount. Some want higher rear sight to co-witness with a red dot but I prefer it as is. This target is as good as I can shoot. Let us know what you decide.

I have had mine for a couple of months now and love it. I have qualified with it several times now and gone through a Red Dot class. Is it a $4k Staccato, no but, if you are looking for a dependable firearm then it is definitely worth it. I have a Vortex Venom on mine. So far so good, main gripe with the Venom is that you either have to have it on the lowest setting or buy a ton of batteries.

I've had the competitor for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. It is my first M&P and, given how good it has been, has me looking very hard at the "standard" metal version.

As a matter of fact, it even has me considering the new polymer 10mm Performance Center model as it has the enhanced trigger. My only hesitation is over the manual safety. All my carry models are trigger safety only.

S&W will ship you the slide covers if you decide to remove the manual safety. Free of charge! It's an easy change.
