Put this here because most Smiths love math and have the dexterity when working with little parts.
Picture of threaded rod that appears to have 7 peaks over 1/8".
Threaded part is 1.7mm in diameter.
Shaft of rod is 2.0mm and a head that's 2.4mm.

Found this math to convert TPI in inches to Metric.
It appears to be 7 threads to 1/8" so thats 56 TPI.
Hope that's right.
Divide 1/56 = .01785714 and multiply that by 25.4 = .45357143
That might be a M1.7 x .45 metric screw.

Have found M1.7 x .35 metric dies but no M1.7 x .45 metric dies or taps yet.

My mill can work as a small vertical lathe but not for threading.

Anyone know of a source for an M1.7 x .45 metric die?

Thanks as always,
RT

The major diameter is 1.7mm/.0699" and it was made in Paris around 1860.
I get measurements of 1.67mm-1.7mm on the threads, as it's old but the rods/threads are in nice condition, and only one needs replacement, as the threaded portion broke and is short.
Still has enough threads to be used, but when doing a restoration, best to do it thoroughly.
I have 0, 1 and 2 screws for harmonica/melodica reed repair, and it does not match.
Thanks
RT

Will post a picture when the project is completed along with the Mrs Colt 1860 Army, 2nd Gen.

^^^^
That is better than the M2.2x.45 die and less expensive than buying a screw cutting lathe. :D
Will have to get in touch with Victornet and see if they have an ETA on the die. Taps are in stock.
Some others have the #1-56 die but no taps.
Will keep checking and may order two taps from Victornet, plus some other stuff, to make their minimum.
Thanks again,
RT

Found a supplier with #1-56 adjustable dies and taps in stock.
Will post their info once I receive those items and see if they are of good quality.
I recently bought and will return this flat and needle spring bending plier, as it's not quite right.
It was from a different company that ships without inspecting the tools.
Sad but true.
If they do not have any made right, I'll make jaws for one I have.

A Bluesman sang, bad luck, is better than no luck at all.
Pictures of 1-56 Die that arrived this morning with 3 taps.
Hope this company has some in stock that are made correctly.
Nice if they checked the Die before sending.
Sad but true.
Will see if they make this right.

Did receive a better pair of pliers, with a prepaid return tag.
They know I did not expect perfection for $25, they picked out the best one, asked for my approval via a picture, and it arrived promptly. 👍👍

Just received this from the company that sent the bad die.
They think this is an acceptable replacement.
Might be a sad time wasting joke.
The newer looking one is from their website.
The old one, two pics, might be like the one that was lost
in the bilge of the Ark.
