MI hand guard for MP10

I could use some help. Ordered a MI Gen 3 M-series for my MP10 and obviously realized the nut will not fit over the barrel. Should I have ordered the DPMS version? Also been looking for into as to the tang size. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
