Microsoft Outlook Problem

Another victim of the forced "upgrade" from Hotmail to Outlook. Trying to access my e-mail, but keep getting a message that Outlook "seems" to be having a problem right now. Of course it is, it's Outlook So i go to the Microsoft support link, which tells me Outlook is operating normally. None of the myriad of very confusing support links actually get me to anybody that can help. Tried a phone call to tech support. After answering about ten questions on the "tree," I was promptly disconnected.

Other than switching to Apple, any suggestions? FWIW I'm not a techie (where are the vacuum tubes?), so plain English reposnes are appreciated. Thanks.

I use Outlook but my email is with Comcast, and have no problems. I also use Firefox. I do have problems with my Kindle Fire HD, getting my email. I see the inbox notice that I have email fron XXXX but I can't open it half the time. I can search the internet, even put a bid on a gun via Gunbroker, but still have the problem with my email. I don't worry about it, I just turn on my computer.

Yaktamer is referring to the outlook.com mail that he changed to from hotmail. Not Outlook that comes with the Microsoft Office Suite on your computer.

Anyone with a hotmail or live or msn account would have had the option to "upgrade" to outlook.com. I have no problem accessing mine, and I have two accounts. I use them for junk e-mail. All others, I use gmail.

I have used gmail for 10 years now so I have no experience with Hotmail.

This wasn't an option. Microsoft acquired Hotmail and is eliminating Hotmail. All Hotmail users are automatically being converted. I got back in after doing a shutdown. I can still have a Hotmail address, but it's now Outlook. And it sure isn't an upgrade. And yeah, I know it's free. I'm just getting what I pay for.

I assume you are referring with the migration from your old Hotmail to Outlook.com, not an Outlook email client. I just checked my little used Outlook.com email account and have no issues. Are you using an email client to POP your account or are you simply trying to log on while online? If you are trying to access your account online, try going to Outlook.com to log in. If you are using an email client your POP/IMAP and SMTP server settings may need to be changed.

I see, well it WAS an option earlier. Microsoft bought Hotmail back in 1998. Yeah, I'm not impressed with it, but then again, I don't use it except for my junk email. glad you got it resolved.

All of a sudden the end of last week I cannot send mail-- of course Comcast says, 'it isn't us' . Still cannot figure this out.
