Midway Shipping

A number of years ago I frequently purchased bullets from Midway. At that time they sent those orders in flat rate USPS boxes that had a very heavy inner box that just fit inside the USPS size box. There was never any problem with those orders, but I guess the cost of the special boxes was too high. Since then I have primarily ordered from another source but the last time I ordered some Berry bullets from Midway they were NOT packed in this manner, and one of the plastic bullet boxes had broken open and the bullets were rolling around with the other items. Maybe the company is just getting too big.

See my above posting. Like I stated, you win some and you lose some...I LOST again.

I know they're understaffed, overwhelmed, and doing a great service as fast as humanly possible, but there is no excuse for lack of simple attention to detail. I absolutely can't believe they sent my $150.00 order in an ENVELOPE! What a mess. It's amazing the contents even stayed inside!

They've heard from me, but I'll likely just have to deal with it.

Will possibly use them only as a last resort from this point forward. Am done crossing my fingers every time I press the order button.

I've had the same results from Midway recently. I'd basically quit using them because of their high shipping costs, but found a couple of deals that I couldn't pass up. In one order I'd included a box of Berry's bullets, and the container had broken in transit, leaving bullets rolling around with the one pillow. At least the outer box held, but I'd be very reluctant to order from them again. Yes, I realize they're swamped, but other businesses seem to do a much better job of shipping well.

I use them because nobody stocks my items

Yes they do have their shipping problems but they can (eventually) ship me what no one else stocks. They have my sierra 9mm 125 gr FMJ and my remington 7 1/2 small rifle primers.I even scored 2 lbs of varget. Today, I unpacked my order of 3x100 sierra bullets 9mm 125gr and, just like last time, one of the boxes has opened and I had a couple of loose bullets but at least it was the bullets I wanted. Yes, they can improve their packing but I will continue to use them when brownells doesnt stock my items.

Mostly millennial college students from MU work there. Unaccustomed to manual labor or reporting to work on time. Signs of times to come.

I've had exactly 2 problems out of dozens of orders in the last 10 years. Neither of them involved bullets or ammo. I routinely buy bulk bullets on sale or clearance and maybe I'm lucky but I haven't had any packing issues. One time I was shorted a few pieces of 357 maximum brass and they refunded me the change from the missing brass. Inconvenient when you buy 100 bullets and 100 primers but have 98 pieces of brass.

Another time they shipped me a contender fore end for a carbine when I bought one for a pistol barrel. The packaging was clearly opened and returned

Nope. Looks pretty much the same as they have for years.

Midway shipping is notorious for rattling packages...

Personally, I'd prefer it if we still had actual full service retail firearms/supplies dealers in our communities.
In other words, I miss the days of good old fashioned Mom-n-Pop retail businesses run by people who actually had a clue, and could do more than just sell plastic pistols, tactical gear, and bulk packs of mediocre factory ammo.
You didn't feel you had to buy 8 lbs of powder (that you never used before because they were out of the good stuff) or a case of primers just to beat the haz-mat fee.

:D I guess I have been lucky so far. All the orders I got from Midway have arrived safe and secure including 6 boxes of Speer .357's that arrived today.

The opposite

Contrast your experience to Brownell's shipping practice.
Received a fiber optic replacement handgun front sight.
Packed in a 10" cubic cardboard box.

The item I had to return to Cabelas the other day was a digital scale that was delivered in a 12 x12 x12 box..No packing no nothing. Sounded like a BB in a boxcar when I got it.. Needless to say...it did not work. The customer service gal at Cabela's had to take everything completely out of the little box to "make certain" it didn't operate. I had someone give me an OLD Dillon electronic that still works. Just wanted it for weighing bullets etc.
