Local Orlando show. Wall to wall folks, pushing and grinding to get down the aisles. $595 Model 10's (Not rare but nice), various other Smiths $200-$500 overpriced. Naturally if yer selling it's junk, if yer buying it's "rare" etc. To top it off, about 1:45 someone decided to shoot himself in the leg about a hundred feet away. They're going to return my teeth as soon as they dig them out of the concrete. Made the local news and everything, like we need negative press. I'm just going to the local gun shop, not that it's any safer just less knuckleheads handling guns recklessly. Sorry, it's late and I'm cranky. Joe

Sounds like the day piled on all the factors to make you cranky. Glad you got home safe.

Interesting that you say the gunshow was busy as the last few out here have had some people, but little money. Anybody actually buying over there?

There's only one show I still go to. It's only 17 miles down the road. There's a couple venders I know, and trust. Same show the last 20 yrs. I know of. There's a couple venders that obviously buy from used sources like CDNN and J&G, etc.. The abundance of first time ill informed buyers is screwing up the market.

Joe, glad I couldn't make it.:D
Everything is at the "Buy It Now" prices from the internet at most gunshows now. When will these knuckleheads realize we are no longer living in the post Obama election time frame. Market is soft and money is scarse.
The more I see the "Drugstore Cowboys", ADs looking for a place to happen, at gunshows the more it's turning me off too. The days of the "good ole local gunshow" is gone.:( The really big gunshows seem to be doing well though 'cause I think they have much more knowledgeable people showing and buying at them.

I haven't been to a show in a while either. Ours are more like an overcrowded flea market any more. I think the guys who check for loaded guns should also make sure everyone entering has their pants pulled up!

Glad you weren't hurt and thanks for the report. Saved me a drive over there today. Do you know any more about the ND like which table, vendor, visitor and did the shooter get himself?

Bob

I was at a local gun show about 20 yrs ago and some nimrod accidentally shot a gun off....I think everyone defecated themselves when that happened, luckily no one was injured.

What were the details of the accidental discharge? How did that happen? Was this one of the Suncoast Gunshow events?

I have not gone to shows in several years.
I had considered going to this one today, thanks for the heads up.
Missed the news cast on the shooting

Not many baggypantcers at shows here. 20 miles south they still fly the battleflag.

I almost went to the Orlando show this morning but decided to throw a london broil on the smoker instead. I will be at the one in Kissimmee Aug 7 though. 6 miles from the house and with a side job next weekend I may even be able to buy something.

I gave up on the local gun shows probably 10 or more years ago.... I've enough camo t-shirts and beef jerky to last. From what I've heard that's what a lot of the local shows have now.

Yes, folks were buying. Not frenetic and mostly ammo and accessories.
The folks involved apparently a regular "private sale" table in the right corner as you go into the main room. One guy was clearing a .25 and shot his table pard in the leg. Shooter got arrested and pard went 911 to the hospital. This is from "internet sources" so don't be upset if it's inaccurate.
Ammo is getting more reasonable. I got a bag of 50 Georgia Arms .45 Colt, new ammo with Starline brass (says 900fps) JHP for $30. Next table over had .45 Colt reloads $55/50 with lead bullets.
Saw a nickel 4" 27-2 for $700. Given the rarity factor, I was tempted. Ran it by a more knowledgeable guy and the flaws put me off. He wouldn't budge off the $700 for a $500 gun. There was a 4" nickel 27-3 for $750 w/ wrong grips that made the first gun seem better. But after the ND I was out the door having spent a total of $59 ($9 entry, $30 ammo, $16 headphones, $4 silicone cloth). Joe

Its pretty much the same around here. Crowded, over priced and lots of morons.
Yet I still go to almost every one. Mostly to pick up reloading supplies and visit with friends. More often than not the only thing I buy is a Dr. Pepper.
But once in a very great while I stumble across something I really like at a reasonable price.
Hope springs eternal. ;)

The Orlando "ND" might have been "On Purpose". The Buyer might have questioned whether the weapon function properly and if the caliber was powerful enough to hurt. SO--- I will just shoot myself in my leg and this will answer both my concerns. BLAM!! Ouch! "Ok I will buy it".

I have observed that the same "Dealers" have the same weapons at each Gun Show, but with higher prices each time. The reason might be if this weapon won't sell for $500.00, then I must be asking too little for it, so I will raise the price to $700.00. Or I really don't want to sell my weapons, just give them a outing.

I skipped the local guns show scene for over ten years due just about everything listed by others. I go to a winter show every now and then. Usually to look for the odds and ends parts. Any other time, I rather be outside doing something.

I might go myself, it's close by
Could use some 32-20 ammo and a Pocket Holster for a J.
Occasionally, I'll find a curio amongst the Tee's and Kitch.
