Might be my last Gun Show

I might go myself, it's close by
Could use some 32-20 ammo and a Pocket Holster for a J.
Occasionally, I'll find a curio amongst the Tee's and Kitch.

If you see me there say "Hi" My avatar pic is me so I shouldn't be too hard to reccognize.

I don't go to gun shows. Around here they cost $10 just to get in. Overpricing? I imagine! Same thing with online auctions. Example: For reason(s) I can't explain I developed an urge for either a .50 Desert Eagle or M500 S&W. I've watched the auctions on both of these guns and can't believe the pricing. Regardless of condition or accessories they are priced at between $1,200/$1,400. But, there are no bids. Completed auctions are usually around $800. These sellers keep re-listing over and over and over at the same price. The listed guns, in this category, usually state "shot 6 times". This indicates to me the owner is trying to make up in money what he lacks in good sense.

But, to contradict my own argument, I found on GB an excellent M500 with box and docs and the right barrel length for buy it know of $845. The seller paid the shipping and threw in a holster.

So, if I'm like others who buy these things I'll have it on an auction for probably around $1,450.....hah.

I gave up on the local gun shows probably 10 or more years ago.... I've enough camo t-shirts and beef jerky to last. From what I've heard that's what a lot of the local shows have now.
Beef jerky (waaay overpriced), candles, cheap jewelry...more and more unrelated vendors while the gun sellers ask ridiculous prices for guns and ammo.

The folks involved apparently a regular "private sale" table in the right corner as you go into the main room.
Thank you, I know exactly who you mean. I'm suprised the local media, especially the Orlando Slantinel, aren't all over this but I'm sure not seeing anything. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places(seems to happen a lot these days).

Glad to hear it wasn't serious...although the guy who got shot would probably beg to differ.:D

Ft Worth shows are the same way. $7.00 to get in, $5.00 to park. All the vendors are trying to pay for their tables on each sale. Too many fruitcakes.
The local gun shops get my business.

Gun shows don't have the attraction to me that they used to, however, I still make about three or four a year..(Including the two "big" Tulsa shows) just because you will never run into some of the big dealers anywhere else.

Yes, things are overpriced. I've got a solution to that. Don't buy.

I generally never go to a gun show with anything in mind. I just go and look...and when I see something I can't live without...I jump on it...(like a hound dog on a gut wagon).

During my lifetime, I've probably been present for four or five "accidental" discharges at gun shows. I'm suprised their aren't more.

Just goes to show you that there are a lot of idiots out there.

Stay safe.

Puts me in mind of that guy . . "Irving" . "the 142nd fastest gun in the west"

Well, finally Irving got three slugs in the belly.
It was right outside the Frontier Deli.
He was sittin' there twirlin' his gun around,
And butterfingers Irving gunned himself down!
.................

Gun Shows here on Vancouver Island are 1 a month with March, May, June and October having 2 a month. . $3 to get in, no charge parking with breakfast and lunch at $5 to $6.

Yes, the good deals are gone here as well. 10 years ago when we all moved up a generation, there was a good selection and reasonable pricing. I still go to the gun shows that are close by; get a good breakfast, visit with old friends and usually leave with something that was a good deal I don't need. But you never know if you don't go.

Everything is at the "Buy It Now" prices from the internet at most gunshows now. When will these knuckleheads realize we are no longer living in the post Obama election time frame. Market is soft and money is scarse.

Something I hear at auctions all the time "I cannot let this go this cheap, these normally sell for $xxx" where $xxx is at least 60% over the going rate. Even ammo has come down a bunch and the auctioneers hate it.

There was a medium one on the road to the Trap Club two weeks ago in Clearwater. Prices were out of sight and my wife and I walked it fairly quickly, then left.

First one I'd been to in several years.

We have a lot of shops in the area and I have found I can get what I want cheaper-a lot cheaper-from them. But, then, I'm not chasing some grail, either.

And it's not only shows & auctions.... One of my local gunshops always has ridiculous prices on the tags and almost never comes down on the price.
A while back, I asked to see a well-used (filthy) 686+ priced at $695. After looking it over he proceeds to inform me how "it would cost me over nine-hundred to get a new one." This guy was quoting me the MSRP of $964.

I wonder if I really do look that stupid ???

I will be at the one in Kissimmee Aug 7 though. 6 miles from the house and with a side job next weekend I may even be able to buy something.

The Kissimmee show is pretty nice, I will probably go. I'm over yesterday and life is good. I only go to these shows for the "walk ins." At the same show a few months back, I got this 14-5 for $350 (yes I stole the FG grips off it, look much better on 19-5) and the 29-5 for $500, both are 99%. Joe

Quality guns such as S&Ws are overpriced at gunshows, at on-line auctions, and at on-line stores. Even the local dealers are overpriced. Seems like there's no place left to buy at a fair and reasonable price. Must be the new norm.

In 37 years of going to gun shows, I have personaly witnessed 4 guns going off. Only one guy got hit, and he shot himself by accident (and survived) with a old Colt .25 cal pocket auto. There is nothing in the world more quiet than a gun show full of people after a gun goes off.

The safety factor at the gun shows, along with the same safety concerns at the public ranges, and the never ending stupid anti gun legislation, has been playing on my mind for a while now and almost has me convinced to unload it all and focus on my fly fishing or some other quiet, peaceful hobby. Hard decision to make, I love guns, shooting, and reloading but sometimes wonder if all the risks and hassles are worth it. It took a long time to get this far in life and seems stupid to risk it to those morons who should never have been allowed to put a firearm in their hands.

Gun show prices are out of sight. I surf the web for the best price on a gun. The vendors at the gun shows need to wake up. Price is everything. Buyers interested in a particular gun, should research the going price and be patient. Unless you are knowlegeable and know what to look for, stay away from pawn shops. The are overpriced and most of the guns are well worn. The owners have an attitude and won't budge from the price. Again. most of my guns I own have been purchased from the internet or private sales. Look in the newspapers, there are many guns advertised. Most of them are over priced but if the owner wants to sell, he will bargain.

I think one of the reasons the private dealers at the gun shows around here won't budge on their prices is because they can sell on the spot to anyone with a Florida ID. I'm sure a lot of people who aren't really supposed to have guns are willing to pay more to avoid being rejected by the background check.

Those are some really nice revolvers. Maybe I'll bump into you there.

Went to a local show near Saratoga Springs, New York last month. Typical over priced ammo, jewelry, etc. What really got my attention, I was checking out the tables when I hear a woman ask me if I was interested in new rain gutters for my home.

I wonder where all the guns are?
