Mine flat out works....period!

I have been on this forum off and on for almost 8 years since I bought my 15-22. There is always lots of problems with the rifle listed here and thats OK. This forum helps solve those issues, it is a great resource for that. There is also lots of "should I buy it" posts. If one was to read to much into the problem posts they may get swayed away from this great firearm.

So I just want to say after all these years and thousands of rounds later my 15-22 is stellar. It works every time I pull the trigger. Have I ever had a FTF or a FTE? Yes, but so few I can't remember exactly how many, they are rare.

I got mine right after they came from the factory with the blue springs. My manual has the prefered ammo list. In reality it shoots everything I feed it and it does it well. Early on I ran nothing but Blazers through it, perfect. During the ammo shortage I ran everything I could get my hands on through it, perfect. During that time one of my brother in laws died. My sister gave me over 2000 rounds of ammo he had stored. He had saved it up over the last 50 years. There was every brand and type you could ever imagine. Much of it discontinued. In his honor I fired every round, perfect.

My gun has never been back to S&W, perfect.

I take care of it but I am not a clean freak, it runs dirty, perfect. The one thing I do keep a close eye on is the bolt face. Since I do run this gun reasonably dirty at times, I keep a tool like a dental pick in the bag. In the field this gets crud out of the bolt face cartridge seat. That is simply a smart safety precaution.

Does it have a heavy trigger pull? Yes, it is a combat style trigger out of the box. But it works as it should. Very little take up and breaks clean, perfect. I have taught a lot of young boys to shoot this rifle, the heavy pull is perfect.

There are a lot of raving fans on this forum. I am one of them. I just wanted to say my 15-22 is everything I could want it to be. If your expectations are reasonable your not likely to be disappointed. There are a lot of things it is not. The things it is are all good. One of those things is it is one hell of a lot of fun. Everytime I have ever handed it to someone they have a big grin on their face after the first mag. Somehow S&W figured out how to build smiles into this thing, perfect.

I agree - my experience has been the same. Plus it always brings a smile to my face - especially with a 50 round drum and suppressed!

I too am fully satisfied with my 15-22. I do RSO duty at the gun range where I work and the majority of the 22 rifles I see malfunction are the Ruger 22 takedowns. I rarely see a M&P 15-22 malfunction.

My Son and I bought two 15-22`s when they first came out several years ago. We have never had and type of problem with either rifle. They both shoot any thing we feed them and both rifles are extremely accurate . And we use out 15-22`s for just about anything we need a 22 LR for. I can't praise them enough thanks S&W.

Mines has been perfect so far. I have a Bushnell 1x6 power shotgun scope on it with a circle where the two cross hairs meet. The guns a blast to shoot and with the right ammo it tears the center out of the target at 50 yards.

I bought my 15-22 about 3 years ago but only shot it 2 or 3 times. Then about 2 months ago I decided to start using it for Rimfire Challenge. The first 2 or 3 hundred rounds went well then I started getting stoves and double feeds. I decided to try to fix it myself and then proceeded to spend hours tinkering with it. Finally achieved success, have about 500 rounds with no issues but I was ready to try another platform I was that frustrated. One good came out of it I really now have a decent understanding of how the gun works.

No problems with mine either. Even running a 50 rd Blackdog Drum magazine in it.

For 22s i like a CZ bolt action. I shoot left handed and the CZ was the only pretty 22 sporter i have found w a left hand bolt. It shoots well and makes me smile. For small bore blasting i go w an AR15 in 223 /5.56. Handloading the ammo isnt much more expensive and I am going to shoot one anyway so a rifle I don't have to buy. Im glad your AR style 22 runs well and is a blast to shoot. I bet you have fun w it and that's a good reason to have one. Also bet it's a good trainer for an AR if you don't handload so ammo cost is a factor. Thanks for the info.

PHXSHOOTER, I couldn't agree with you more, well written.

Fun was the number one reason I bought my 15-22, the second reason was because 22lr is cheep and plentiful so I can spend hours shooting while the 223 guys are sitting around talking because there out of ammo.

My 15-22 has ran great, it loves the higher velocity ammo but not so much the bulk ammo, with the bulk ammo I get stove pipes, just something I have to remember and get used to.

I have only had mine since last may, but I expect to have it the rest of my life, I've never had a complaint from anyone I've let shoot it and my grand kids love it!

Bought mine a few years back and have over 3000 through it. Eats everything I put through her. Aguila, Blazer, Remington, Winchester, Etc. I would say it is as dependable as the Nylon 66 that I had when I was a kid.

I am really enjoying my 15-22 as well. I have been getting good results using the 550 count box of Federal ammo that Wal Mart sells for a bit under $20. Although it is dirty it runs great for me. Bought mine as it has same controls as ar15. No regrets
