The recent post about a missing hiker made me think more about this. Dave Robinson went for a walk on September 12th in Hop Canyon just outside Magdalena NM. Searchers combed the area, but no sign of him has been found. My father has a place in that canyon and knew Dave. Dave always carried a revolver after he was stalked by a mountain lion a while back. But he apparently didn't take it this time. There has been almost no news coverage. This whole situation seems very fishy to me.

I can think of a couple people taken by lions here back in the 90s.A small boy and a teenager. The boys remains weren't found for years.Quite a few go missing around here.Sometimes nothing ever is found.

I hope they find him alive. But if you were stalked by a mountain lion why didn't you:

A. hunt that thing down with a dog or hire a pro with a dog.
B. carry a sidearm

That's one of the odd things. He always carried a gun after his lion encounter, but not this time. I heard there is a slight chance of foul play, but won't share details here that could hurt an investigation.

Last I read, the missing woman back East was found dead, but no word yet on why. I presume there'll be an autopsy and we'll learn the cause of her death.

I think she was gone long enough to have died of thirst. But I suspect foul play.

Foul play and lion can’t be excluded until he is found, but when I read in the link about heat, steep terrain, dense cover, and a 77-year-old guy, probability favors a less exciting explanation.

Check with his DR to find if he just had some disturbing news. Occasionally some things make us want to go walkabout.

Any update? I haven't seen or heard anything on the Albuquerque news.

Nothing new that I have found. This guy would go on walks daily to check on the neighbors' homes. He lived there for years and was well known in the area. And as for being 77 and going on walks, my dad will be 88 next month and still walks 3 to 5 miles a day. He also carries my 624 when he goes to that area.

A new forum member, who is related to Mr. Robinson, informed me that he was found today. There does not appear to be foul play at this time. The new member can share details if they wish to. It is not for me to do so. At least the family can find closure now.
