Was the Model 67 ever made with a 2 inch barrel like its blued version (Model 15)?

Makes since that there would have been at least a small run of them made, but I don't recall ever seeing one.

I’m actually more surprised they never made a 6” version… a “Stainless Masterpiece”. That would have been an obvious variant.

Stainless was initially intended for the law enforcement market, a market filled with people who are not firearms enthusiasts and gave little maintenance care to their sidearms. With this in mind, it makes sense that S&W initially offered the most popular law enforcement revolvers, J-frame 38 Special, K-frame 38 Special and 357 Magnum, only with the barrel lengths that were the best seller in the LEO community.

Backup revolvers tended to be 1 7/8" barrel J-frames, plain clothes tended to be 2" barrel K-frame 38's, and uniforms typically carried a 4" K-frame 38 or 357. So why make 6 inch versions when they were no longer popular in the biggest market that S&W served?

That's my theory on the barrel lengths offered on S&W's early production stainless revolvers.

I've seen nickle plated 2" Combat Masterpiece but I have now googled and googled and there seems to be no 2" 67s!
