Local shop got in a very nice Mk II Hand Ejector in .455, sn 66,5xx, made 1915-16. Minor holster wear at the muzzle, NO english proofs, never left the country, I guess. Original grips in great condition, but some fool hacksawed the lanyard off the butt without removing the grips. No major damage, but unfortunate. Bore and charge holes great condition, otherwise 9)% plus as a very conservative rating. What is a decent value for this piece?
Thanks,
Mike

Too bad about the hacksaw job, and so senseless! I would have been easier / quicker to do it right by pushing out one little pin.

I wonder if it never left this country, or if it was purchased privately by a British or Canadian officer. I have often read that British officers had to provide their "own kit" including side arm. You would think that the handgun would have to be chambered for the service round, but Winston Churchill bought a Mauser C96 pistol, IIRC.

If truly no damage from the saw, probably around 700-750.
The swivel is easily replaced.
Be sure and find a case hardened one, and not the later blued variety.
The case hardened ones look silver or gray with a little use.

Unaltered 455's are getting scarcer.

Thanks, Lee. Unfortunately, there is marring from the use of the saw. I'd sure like to have this one but the price may be too high. The otherwise VG+ condition may keep the price up.
Best,
Mike

I would pass.
Better to wait for the unbutchered gun down the road.
