MN carry permit satisfies NICS

Right you are. FFL doesn't contact NICS in WA. That person submits to the state. State does the check. Way more goes on there than just a NICS. State checks medical records also. Normally that's illegal (HIPPA) until you sign a waiver to let the state do that. No waiver, no transfer.

I'm finished purchasing firearms as of last week. They won.

Sorry for the drift.

Actually, it's 2 checks. One is still the NICS check, but they also send for a check to your local law enforcement, city or county depending on where you live. That's for any last minute restraining orders or arrests, that sort of thing. That one can legally take up to 10 working days. Mine are usually passed in about 6 days.

I think that changes.

Beginning January 1, 2024:

A firearm dealer MAY NOT transfer a firearm until the background check is completed.

This means no longer will FFLs be able to transfer a firearm before they receive a 'Proceed' response from the WSP.

All firearms will now have a 10 day waiting period, not just semiautomatic rifles.

Requires firearm dealers to obtain proof that the transferee has completed a recognized firearms safety training program within the past five years.

The training must be sponsored by a federal, state, county, or municipal law enforcement agency, a college or university, a nationally recognized organization that customarily offers firearms training, or a firearms training school with instructors certified by a nationally recognized organization that customarily offers firearms training.

My last two pistol transfers went the full 10 working days.

very true about the upcoming changes. There are lawsuits filed, and we should hear about injunctions this coming week. I am catiously optimistic that by the end of the year the many lawsuits about state bans will be showing wins.

now I know about 4 boxes diner, and one other youtube channel run by lawyers, I'll do my best to keep the 2A forum section here updated regularly.
