As seen in the photos, my 10-10 has stocks without medallions. (More about the gun here:http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1980-present/365888-help-me-id-my-model-10-a.html)

I am in the process of refinishing them, and will upload photos when finished. In the mean time, I'm wondering
1. Are these factory original stocks (after several searches, I'm suspecting not)?
2. If so, what model of stocks are they? If not, who/when/why put them on?

Also, any tips on refinishing? They've gone through one round with finish remover, I'm going to hit them again with that and a tooth brush, and am then planning on hand applying Tung Oil. I'm open to suggestions from those who know more.

They look like factory S&W RB magnas. The first picture appears like the medallions have been removed and a filler applied. Hard to tell from the pictures. Does the inside have a silver metal washer for the frame recess?

Check the Forum classifieds. Many times you can find mint replacements for the $40 area.

The photo looks like a filler has been applied, but that is not the case - the illusion was the product of poor photography and the worn finish. Once I removed the finish, it was clear there was no filler. There are no washers on the inside of the grips - just the one central hole for the screw, and the small hole to fit the pin at the base of the handle frame. I'll post up some pics tonight.

Did S&W make magnas in this era (around 1994) without medallions?

Huh. Australian eh, I never considered that. Have you taken yours off and looked inside? Mine have a number stamped (I'll post the pics when I get home) - if they are similar I might be inclined to agree with you.
