After getting some very helpful feed back on my old S&W .38, I continue to lurk here and have noticed that there is very little discussion on the Model 19. I have a M19 6" Target and love the gun but am I alone? Is this just not one of those guns that people covet?

Use the search function. The model 19 is a well followed revolver.
Especailly the short barreled ones!

No one likes the M19. In fact, you should feel a bit embarassed to admit you own one. As a nice guy I will gladly take it off your hands, and even pay the shipping!

I have rescued 3 of the poor unloved little buggers.

I suspect there isn't much talk about them because they show up about as often as whale crap, and those that's got them ain't talkin'

I have a 6" Model 19 that is an all-around excellent gun, a worthy candidate for the elusive "only one gun". The K frame targets were early fav's when I started down the road to ruination as a Smith collector. I have a 48, 17, 19, and 14, all 6" targets. Now I just need a 16, 53, and probably an early 32-20 target. No problem.

Don't forget the Model 18"

I just picked up a minty 6" 19 for 300 bucks. There still out there, but like many things in life, it's a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

If, God and Bill of Rights forbid, I could only have one gun, it would be a four inch 19. Small enough to hide, light 38 specials for range duty and full house loads will put deer in the freezer.

M19 is a favorite of most Smith revolver fans. If you only look in this forum ie: 1896-1961, you probably won't see a lot about it as is was introduced in the mid 50's, which only puts a small number (% wise of both M19 & of all models made during those years) of them in this forum. The M19 (and it's stainless counterpart the M66)is better represented in the other two revolver forums, as that is when most of them were made.

Holy Mackeral, no wonder snubbie 19's are hard to find!!!!

To my eye,the 21/2" 19 is the K frame
answer to the 31/2" N frame.

Both are my favorite for pure combat looks.

What's the matter, Mike? You couldn't afford a new gun and settled for used?

Certainly high in my S&W top ten list.

It's one of those revolvers that just feels good in the hand, especially in those dark scary places. It's business like appearance usually provokes a good deal of instant self examination by the wicked and has helped provoke sincere remorse in many misguided souls, delivering them to the road toward salvation.

Great gun, Mike! My 14 year old just about climbed through the computer when he saw Bill Jordan's name on it. He just turned in a book report on "No Second Place Winner." Probably made his teacher nervous, but we are a revolver family! Of course, he really enjoys shooting his Model 19, even though it is a bit newer than the ones in this section of the forum.
