Mod 24-3

I was recently gifted a Mod 24-3 from the widow of deceased friend.It came ith the box and papers, and tool kit. I would judge its condition as 98%
Ser #abz4455. An old invoice in the box shows it as being shipped from somewhere to an ffl in july of 83. Wha would b the aprox. value of this fire arm.

Around $800, at least to me. If the gun has a 4-inch barrel rather than the longer 6-1/2" version, probably a bit more. This is assuming the gun is 98%, which would include the original stocks.

The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 4th edition states your gun ANIB at $900 and Exc at $750. If I were you I would cherish it and occasionally shoot it, clean it, and keep it as an heirloom. They do not make ththe dash 3 model anymore and they did not make many of them back when they did. Enjoy

There was also a 3" round butt version that came with wood finger groove stocks that would bring more than a 4" or 6.5"

I recently sold a 4" with no box or tools in 98% condition for $1,050. Some guys ask a lot more and eventually get it because there are a few people that want one really bad and there were not that many made.

It would help to know the barrel length as this will make a slight difference in price. Pictures would also help.
Around here, a 98% gun with box and paperwork would start at $1000 and go up from there. These are very desirable guns made in limited numbers. Its a sellers market on these and prices in the $1200-1500 range are not uncommon.

The 3" version in 98% condition goes for about $1300 on GB.

A pic is worth 1300 words op! Nobody is going to be able to give approx value without them.

If a friends wife gave me something like that I'd like to know the value as well for insurance purposes; however, it would never be sold or traded. It would be cherished as another stated, shot, and carried while taking care to keep it in great shape to honor my friend. YMMV of course...
